4 AM Taehyung's POV
After a heated session of love and intimacy, Jungkook and I drifted to deep sleep. But then my phone started vibrating under my pillow. In my sleep, I cut the call. The phone started vibrating again. Not before 5 calls I decided to see the caller's name.
While rubbing my eyes, I muttered, "What the actual fu-"
It was Dr. Yeongji's call.
"Hello?" I picked up the phone cluelessly.
"Dr. Taehyung, report to the hospital right now. Tell Dr. Jungkook to report as well" Dr. Yeongji ordered.
"What happened? Is everything alright?" I switched on the lights and got out of the bed.
"It's about Mrs Hwang... It might take me a while to reach there. So report as soon as possible."
"Mrs Hwang?"
"Mrs. Hwang..."
Time skip Jungkook POV
Taehyung and I rushed to the hospital as per Dr. Yeongji's call. We ran towards Mrs. Hwang's ward to see what was actually happening. The senior doctor didn't tell us anything, and our assumptions were going in every unfortunate direction.
Then we were standing at the threshold of the ward. What we saw in front of us was something we wished was a lie.
A gynaecology resident was standing beside the lifeless figure of Mrs. Hwang. Nurse Jieun and Mirae were also standing there with their heads down low.
On the other side of the bed, there was a massive pool of blood mixed with IV medication which was detached from the patient's port.
"What happened here?" Taehyung asked, looking at the resident and the nurses for an answer.
Before the resident could say anything, one of the nurses replied in a terrified tone, "S-Sir, I checked on her at 3... She was sound asleep... When Mirae c-came here to check her IV at 3:40, she..."
"We tried to revive her, sir... But she had lost quite amount of blood by then..."
As the nurse narrated the whole scene, I went near Mrs. Hwang and saw that her eyes were still open as she laid dead on the bed.
Then I looked at her hand drooping down from the edge of the bed. Her wrist was split open and half of her hand was covered in blood. The depth of slit was so gruesome that I couldn't stare at it for too long.
