"Dr. Jeon Jungkook, Dr. Yeongji has allotted you the case in OT-3 just now. They are going to perform a c-section within half an hour. Report there as soon as possible" the new SR said in a hurry before going into a private ward.
"Argh..." I groaned in frustration because I was about to head to the PG room to have my first meal of the day at 10 pm.
Yeah, that's all about a resident's usual life.
"Are you in pain, too?" My little patient asked out of concern, with a doubtful look plastered on her face.
I laughed awkwardly, kind of feeling embarrassed for letting out my inner turmoil in front of a kid.
"Ah, hahaha! Nah, there's nothing like tha-"
That's when my stomach started acting up, growling in full rage as if it hadn't seen food since dinosaurs went extinct.
A moment of silence passed, and then the room was filled with laughter. It was sort of good to see my patient so happy after a long time, but the embarrassment was taking over all of me.
"So, you're hungry" Another wave of laughter started. There seemed to be no end to it.
"Alright, I think that's enough for today" I mumbled in an almost inaudible voice, acting to read the reports with my face heating up with embarrassment.
"Haha, okay, but I wanna tell you something." She said, signalling me to come closer.
"I'll whisper it in your ear so that nobody can hear it."
I looked at her, totally perplexed by her demand. Although I could sense it as a trap, I accepted my defeat and complied with her words.
In the most serious tone possible for an 8 year old child, she said, "I had a huge bowl of fried rice and miso soup for dinner."
Then and there, I gave her a side-eye. Another moment of silence was followed by a burst of laughter.
"Hmm, seems like you guys have become good friends" Taehyung entered the ward with a big smile on his face and walked near us.
"Of course, Taehyung uncle. And I have something interesting to tell you about him-"
"Umm... Dr. Yeongji has allotted me a new case and- and I need to report there as soon as possible, okay? Haha... Here, take it" I handed over the reports to Taehyung and continued, "I've written everything here. Please cross check it. See you later!"
"Hey, listen-"
"Bye, see ya!" I left the room at the speed of lightning as I was in no way gonna listen to an 8 year old make fun of me in front of my senior.
