Jin's POV

"Hey hyung, I hope Jungsun was alright today" Jungkook sighed, taking his sleeping toddler in his arms from my lap.

"Yeah, he was mostly occupied with the jumbo blocks Jeha bought for him the other day" I chuckled as I got up from my chair to pick up the scattered blocks from the floor, then arranged them in its zipper bag.

"Hey Kook, how was your day?" Namjoon beamed at the younger, a faint dimple forming on his face as he walked out of his room with a pile of marked sheets in his hands.

"Tiring as usual. Monday OPDs are especially hectic" he huffed, putting the straps of Jungsun's bags over his other shoulder.

"And what about Taehyung?" I asked out of concern. But the meagre amount of liveliness in Jungkook's face faltered too quickly, almost making me question if it was the right time to discuss the matter.

Namjoon and I looked at each other as Jungkook hesitantly tilted his head downward to hide his saddened expression.

"Hey Kook. Let's sit here for a while" Namjoon motioned the boy towards our couch as we made him sit in between us, hands placed securely on his shoulder in deep concern.

Jungkook adjusted the sleeping toddler in his lap, letting his little head rest against his broad chest. Jungsun stirred and whined, "Uh.. Daa... Daa..." but his dad was quick to shush him with gentle pats on his back.

When the child felt settled enough, Jungkook looked at us with tired and teary eyes and mumbled, "I-It's been more than a month now..."

Jungkook told us how he had been noticing Taehyung every evening somewhere near the main gate of the hospital despite him acting absolutely uninterested in stopping by and having any conversation.

It was lowkey breaking his heart to see the older's worn out face, wanting to talk to the younger just one time. Moreover, he was not forcing Jungkook to stop by.

He'd only stand there, holding a little ray of hope in his nervous hands that one day Jungkook's bike won't pass by but stop for him, giving his poor heart a chance to express his guilt and to repent.

His patience was breaking the younger's shell. And that was evident in the tears that rolled down his face while he narrated the scenario to us.

"Jungkook-ah..."

Namjoon and I scooted closer to the weeping boy, giving his shoulder a comforting squeeze to let him express his sorrow. At that stage, it was more of a difficult crossroad that the younger was facing.

One side pulled him towards the life he had gotten used to by that time, Jungsun being his only family and his reason to live. While the other side coaxed him to look back at his painful past and walk through it, promising nothing but uncertainty of the events it would uncover slowly.

"I... I don't know what to do, hyung" Jungkook sniffled, trying very hard to keep it low as he didn't want his baby to wake up to his voice and see him crying like that. But the pain radiating through his chest was immense and gnawing.

"You have to come to a decision, Kook" Namjoon sighed and nodded as Jungkook turned his head towards him.

"Joon is right. Let him explain himself. Then decide if you want to take this further or... put an end to it."

The last sentence didn't settle well with the younger as he looked at me with a confused look plastered on his face. Suppressing a sob, he mumbled, "What future can I see with someone who turned against me when I needed him the most?"
