20. THE SIN OF LOVE

(Inspired by 'The Fault in our Stars")

My eyes filmed the nightmare
As invisible strings of life broke,
Letting the grim reaper in.

Helplessly, I moured as
Coloured strawberry of his lips,
slowly dissolved
in the soil of his skin.

I prayed for our love
As his soul slowly ascended,
Leaving me with a hollow shell
Of what once he had been.

I was a warrior with no weapons,
thrown in to fight a war
that I  could never win.

His silent screams
shattered my heart,
With a pain more devastating
than pricks of a thousand pins.

Our lives, that were once
showered with bright light,
Turned dark as the devil of fate
widened his grin.

A peaceful death seemed too kind.
I died a new death every day,
Every time his breath grew thin.

Now I wander alone with
a broken soul of yang,
Forever meager without my yin.

Why? I scream in oblivion.
What did we do wrong?
Were we wrong to begin?

Oh goddess of love,
why did our prayer
Echoed upon your ears as sin ?
