BROOKE POV
We walked in the jungle until nightfall. Nothing happened, no cannons and no attacks. We sat at the trunk of a large tree, ready to settle in for the night. The next moment, a parachute floated down into my hands. Cato and the others gathered around me as I opened up the metal pod, to find a weird metal device. I turned it over in my hands while Cato pulled out the note from Haymitch.
'ᴅᴏɴ'ᴛ sᴀʏ ɪ ɴᴇᴠᴇʀ ɢᴀᴠᴇ ʏᴏᴜ ᴀɴʏᴛʜɪɴɢ' - ʜ
I looked at the metal object in my hands again and realised what I was looking at.
"It's a spile, it's gets the water out of trees."
I took it over to a tree and used the handle of one of my knives to hammer it in. Tensed, waiting for a sign of water. It finally spurted out of the tree and we all sighed in relief. Cato ducked his head under the spile, getting a mouthful of water before washing his dirty face. Finnick did the same before grabbing a large leaf, filling it with the sweet water and bringing it over to where Mags was sitting. She cupped her hands around the leaf, taking a long drink. After the spile stopped giving us water we all settled down to sleep, Finnick was on first watch.

CATO POV
I was woken by a loud banging that echoed through the arena. We all sat up, startled by the sound. I watched as Brooke silently mouthed how many bangs there were.
"I counted twelve."
"Midnight?"
"Or the number of districts."
"Brooke, if you're not gonna sleep, I will."
Finnick fumbled around for a little bit before settling down to sleep. I laid back down on my makeshift blanket and let my eyes droop closed.

"RUN! RUN! THE FOG IS POISON!"
My eyes sprang open and I immediately jumped to my feet. Brooke was already off like a bullet, running from the white haze that was slowly making its was down the hill. Finnick was trying frantically to pull Mags onto his back, I could tell he was struggling. I ran over and used most of my strength to help Mags into Finnicks back. My legs were pumping so hard, but still the fog kept on coming. I could hear Brooke yelping in pain as the fog beared down on her but still she kept on running.

BROOKE POV
The pain was unbearable. The poison caused hives to shoot up and down my skin. I looked behind me, Cato was still running. The hives were starting to creep up his neck and I heard him hiss in pain. On the other side of me, Finnick fell to the ground, overcome with hives from the fog but still conscious. Mags fell from his back into a ball as me and Cato ran to him.
"I can't carry him, or Mags."
She looked at the both of us, silently mouthing something to us. She leaned down and planted a kiss on Finnick's lips before hobbling towards the fog.
"Mags? Mags! No!"
"We have to get out of here!"
We all watched her disappear into the white haze. The cannon went off almost instantly and silent tears fell down my cheeks, I had gotten to know the woman that was Mags.
And now she's gone.
____
I decided to dedicate a whole chapter to Mags because she was one of the best characters in the series and the bravest by far. I mean, she volunteered even though she knew she wasn't gonna make it and she sacrificed herself for the greater good. Also, the actress who played Mags, Lynn Cohen, passed away last year so I wanted to honour her too.
