2 weeks before Cas said yes:

Dean wakes up with a start.

He had another nightmare about Hell again. They never get any easier, even after all this time.

A knock is heard when Dean is trying to regulate his breathing.

"Come in." He says breathlessly.

The door slowly opens, and Castiel steps into view. Cas has a glass in his hand as he walks towards the hunter.

"Hello, Dean. I got you some water." Cas puts the water on the bedside table.

Dean nods a thank you and sips the water.

"You called out for me in your sleep," Cas explains.

The angel sits on the other side of the bed and rests against the headboard, waiting patiently for Dean to speak.

"Thank you, Cas."

Dean lies back down.

"Of course, Dean."

Dean closes his eyes and feels Cas lie down next to him. A moment later, Cas wraps an arm around Dean, keeping him close.

"I'll be here when you wake up again." Cas whispers.

Dean nods and holds Cas' hand.

He sleeps soundly the rest of the night, knowing an angel is protecting him.

After leaving Cas in the library, Dean doesn't see him for three days.

When he does show again, Sam and Dean are watching a movie while waiting for information from some hunter friends.

The brothers hear footsteps coming towards the Dean Cave before realising it's only Cas.

"Hey, Cas." Sam greets.

"Hello Sam, Dean." Cas walks over to the 3 seater couch and sits between them.

"What are you watching?" He asks.

"Dean is making us rewatch Tombstone." Sam then glares at Dean.

"Sorry, Sammy, but it's a classic. I know Cas likes it."

They both turn to Cas.

"I do?" Cas asks.

"Remember we watched it last month? You asked if there was a second one." Dean tried to remind the angel.

"Oh. I forgot the title of it." Cas then places his hand on top of Dean's, and both the hunters notice.

"That's okay, Cas." Dean then drinks the last of his beer. "Could you get me another beer, please, Cas?"

"Of course, Dean."

Cas stands up and walks out. Sam glares at Dean.

"He's not your maid, Dean."

"I just wanted him to leave for a minute." Dean then starts to lower his voice. "Something about Cas seems off."

"I haven't noticed anything." Sam shrugs.

"Did you see him put his hand on mine? Cas doesn't usually do that."

"I thought it was your 'profound bond.'" Sam teases.

"I'm serious, Sam. Something is wrong." Dean hears faint footsteps.

"We'll talk later," Sam replies.
