5- Acting Angelic (Part 4)

1 month before Cas said yes:

Dean and Cas are in the Dean Cave, cuddling and watching a movie.

This part of their relationship is new. The couple decided to act on their feelings recently and have been taking it slowly ever since.

They haven't exactly mentioned it to anyone yet, so it's a shock to Sam when he walks into the room.

Dean is laying his head on Cas' chest, and his arms are wrapped around the angel. They are both focused on the tv and don't notice Sam until he is standing in front of the tv.

"Hey, Sammy." Dean pulls a cheeky grin.

In response, Sam puts his hands on his hips and frowns at the couple.

"Since, when have you two been together?"

Dean answers: "It's really new, but we decided to admit our feelings, and here we are."

Cas raises an eyebrow.

" We decided? "

Dean rolls his eyes.

"Yeah, you really are bad at talking about your feelings." Sam chuckles.

"Yeah, well, I did anyway. Can you move now?" Dean huffs.

"I'm happy for you guys." Sam grins and leaves the room.

"I'm happy for us, Dean."

Dean kisses his cheek.

"Me too, Cas."

Now knowing that he's been talking to Lucifer for who knows how long, Dean can't help but think back to all the times he was suspicious of the angel lately.

Dean wonders how long it's been since Lucifer found his new vessel. Maybe it was when they were in the Cage.

When Sam said no to Lucifer.

He wonders why he didn't realise immediately that something wasn't right.

After receiving the news, the hunters create a plan. They realise that they might need Lucifer since they have no other plan to defeat Amara.

Crowley, Rowena and Chuck have decided to help them. Now all they need to do is execute their plan.

A few days pass, and no sign of Lucifer/Cas.

Soon enough, Dean finds out that Lucifer is being tortured by Amara. Which means that his angel could be hurt.

He can't just wait around and let Cas get hurt.

After finally finding Lucifer's location, Dean, Sam, Donatello, and Metatron rescue him. Lucifer agrees to help defeat Amara and to fight alongside Chuck.

Lucifer travels to Heaven and manages to convince the angels to help weaken Amara.

Amara shows up at the battle and almost kills Chuck. Lucifer injures her, but she rips him out of his vessel.

Dean can only assume that Cas is now left in the vessel unconscious. Amara disappears into thin air, and Dean runs to Castiel.

"Cas?"

Everyone else is now watching the interaction.

Castiel starts to stir. A big grin spreads on Dean's face.

"Dean?" Cas mutters, his eyes slowly open.

Dean quickly brings the angel to his chest and hugs him tight, still both sitting on the floor. Cas weakly hugs back.

Cas attempts to stand up on his own, but Dean helps him up. Everyone starts to crowd them, asking how Cas is.

The group travel back to the Bunker, and Dean barely lets Cas out of his sight.

Dean makes Cas rest as soon as they arrive back at the bunker. Cas goes to their room, and Sam and Dean talk.

"How are you feeling, Dean?" Sam asks once the bedroom door shuts.

"Me? I'm really happy that Cas is back." Dean grins.

"Well, you haven't slept much since we found out about Lucifer."

Dean rolls his eyes at the concern etched on Sam's face.

"Now, I have a reason to sleep."

Dean continues.

"I've got an angel protecting me."

That night, Dean joins Cas in bed. It's very rare that Cas actually needs to sleep, but he needs to regain his strength.

It's weird seeing an angel asleep, but Cas looks so peaceful - without his usual frown.

Slowly, Dean slips into bed - careful not to wake the angel, and turns to face Cas' back.

Even though he is exhausted, sleep doesn't come to Dean easily. He listens to the soft snores that fill the room and thinks how lucky he is.

He's too busy in his own head that he doesn't realise the snores stop.

"Dean?" Cas whispers.

"I'm right here, Cas."

Cas turns to face Dean and cuddles into Dean's warmth.

"What are you thinking about?" The angel asks.

Dean presses a quick kiss to Cas' forehead.

"I'm thinking about how lucky I am. To have a boyfriend who is so selfless."

He can feel the smile grow on Cas' face.

"Boyfriend?"

"Yes, boyfriend."

"I like the sound of that, Dean."

"So do I."
