Not long after, Peggy and Jacqueline find themselves in a medical room as they watch a nurse take Steve's blood. Steve looks down at his arm and asks as the nurse removes the needle from the appendage, "Think you got enough?" He rolls down his sleeve before he buttons the cuff.
Peggy answers the super soldier, "Any hope of reproducing the program," Steve gets off the bed and the nurse walks away, "Is locked in your genetic code." The blonde walks over to Jacqueline and Peggy, the latter holding a file as she continues, "But without Doctor Erskine, it would take years. "
Steve takes a deep breath and looks up as he says, "He deserved more than this."
Peggy raises her eyebrows and looks down at the file as she adds, "If it could work only once, he'd be proud it was you."
Jacqueline nods and speaks up, "Peggy is right. He was a good man and he would be so proud of the amazing things that you are going to do." Jacqueline smiles as Steve looks over at her.
Steve looks out the window of the room as they hear Senator Brandt speaking, "Colonel Phillips, my committee is demanding answers."
The colonel and the senator walk over to Howard Stark as the former says, "Great. Why don't we start with how a German spy got a ride to my secret installation in your car?" They stop in front of Howard as Colonel Phillips asks, "What have we got here?"
Howard looks over at the colonel as he leans against the machine that Steve was in and responds, "Speaking modestly, I'm the best mechanical engineer in this country. But I don't know what's inside this thing or how it works. We're not even close to this technology."
"Then who is?" the senator asks, looking over at Howard.
Colonel Phillips turns his head toward Senator Brandt and answers, "Hydra." The senator looks over at the colonel, who adds, "I'm sure you've been reading our briefings."
The senator turns to face the colonel as he states, "I'm on a number of committees, Colonel."
Peggy speaks up as the she, Jacqueline, and Steve walk into the room, "Hydra is the Nazi deep-science division." They walk over to the senator, who takes off his hat. "It's led by Johann Schmidt. But he has much bigger ambitions."
Senator Brandt looks back over at Colonel Phillips, who adds, "Hydra is practically a cult. They worship Schmidt. They think he's invincible."
"So, what are you going to do about it?" the senator condescendingly asks the colonel.
Colonel Phillips lightly smiles before he turns and walks toward Peggy, Steve, and Jacqueline as he replies, "I spoke to the President this morning. As of today, the SSR is being retasked."
"Colonel?" Peggy asks the man with confusion.
Colonel Phillips continues talking as he stops in front of Peggy, "We are taking the fight to Hydra. Pack your bags, Agent Carter." He looks over his shoulder and calls out, "You, too, Stark."
