A high-tech HMUV drives through the Arctic snowstorm, hardly able to see where they are going. A man decked out in warm snow gear walks toward them, waving his hand in the air to get their attention. The HMUV stops in front of the man, who lowers down his hand. Two men climb out of the vehicle; one is a S.H.I.E.L.D Lieutenant and the other is a S.H.I.E.L.D Technician. The lieutenant and the technician approach the man, who asks them, "Are you the guys from Washington?"

"You get many other visitors out here?" the lieutenant rhetorically asks the man as they walk toward the site.

The technician speaks up, asking the man, "How long you been on-site?"

The man puts his hand over his hood so the strong winds don't knock it down as he replies, "Since this morning. A Russian oil team called it in about eighteen hours ago."

"How come nobody spotted it before?" the lieutenant asks as he and the technician look over at the man.

The man gestures to the area around them as he replies, "It's really not that surprising. This landscape's changing all the time. You got any idea what this thing is exactly?"

The lieutenant answers the man, "I don't know. It's probably a weather balloon."

The man lightly chuckles as he says, "I don't think so." A beat passes before the man continues speaking, "You know, we don't have the equipment for a job like this."

"How long before we can start craning it out?" the technician speaks up, asking the man.

As they approach the site, the man replies, "I don't think you quite understand. You guys are gonna need one hell of a crane."

The three men stop in front of the wingtip of an aircraft that has been lodged into the ice. They can see other men walking around, observing the crash site. A man with a flashlight walks up on top of the wingtip, looking down at the surface of the aircraft. The man, the lieutenant, and the technician all stare up at the huge wingtip in front of them.

A laser burns a hole through the ice, snow, and the aircraft below the ground. Once the hole falls through to the bottom of the aircraft, the laser is turned off. The lieutenant and the technician are tied to ropes as they descend into the aircraft. Once they touch the ground, the lieutenant speaks into a radio that is linked to their base, "Base, we're in."

Base replies with, "Copy that," as the lieutenant and the technician shine flashlights around the interior of the aircraft.

"What is this?" the technician asks aloud as they look around. Without answering, the lieutenant and the technician walk further into the aircraft as they investigate the area.

The technician walks forward and slips on some ice. He steadies himself as the lieutenant says, "Careful." The technician walks to the front of the ship and looks at the frozen pilot's chair. He crouches down when something catches his eye. He brushes the snow away to reveal a shield encased in ice. "Lieutenant!" the technician calls out to the other person in the aircraft. The lieutenant walks over to the technician, who looks over his shoulder at the lieutenant. "What is it?" the technician asks the lieutenant.

"My God," the lieutenant speaks up as he catches sight of the shield. He then speaks into the radio, "Base, get me a line to the Colonel."

The man at the base speaks through the radio to the lieutenant, "It's three a.m., sir."

"I don't care what time it is. This one's waited long enough," the lieutenant replies to the man on the radio.

The technician moves his flashlight to the left and his eye catches something else encased in the ice. "What is that?" he asks aloud to the lieutenant. The lieutenant furrows his brows as he watches the technician move closer to whatever it was that caught his eye. The technician brushes away some of the snow and reveals a woman trapped in the ice.

"What is it?" the lieutenant calls out to the technician.

The technician replies to the lieutenant as he keeps his eyes on the unconscious woman, "It's a woman."

The lieutenant moves over to the technician as he asks, "What do you mean, it's a woman?"

The technician looks over his shoulder at the lieutenant as he repeats himself, "I mean exactly what I said. There is a woman encased in the ice."

When the lieutenant looks down at the woman over the technician's shoulder, he speaks out, "Well, I'll be damned."

"How long do you think she's been frozen like this?" the technician asks as he looks back to the frozen woman.

The lieutenant looks over the woman before replying to the technician, "By the looks of it, I would say that she has been here as long as the shield has. She was probably on the aircraft when it crashed into the ice."
