After All This Damage (Finished)

Chapter 5

You awoke to someone yelling. You heard Steve's door open and him run down the hall into Bucky's room. You guessed Bucky was having another nightmare, you got up to see if Steve needed help. When you walked into Bucky's room you saw he was fighting Steve.

You walked up to try, ready to fight but wanted to calm him down. When Bucky turned to you you could see his eyes soften. He lowered his hands. And mumbled "sorry." He sat on the edge of his bed looking broken and defeated. You sat next to him stroking his back. "Its ok." When Steve felt that it was ok to leave you alone with him, he left. The other Avengers headed back to their rooms. "Do you want me to stay here tonight?" He nodded and layed on the bed. You got up and went to make a bed on the couch.

"No doll come lay on the bed its much more comfortable." Bucky patted the spot next to him.

You didn't say no. He lifted to covers for you to climb in. After you did he pulled you closer and wrapped his good arm around you. He nuzzled his face in your neck, and fell into a deep sleep. You fell asleep not long after.

You awoken to the sun in your eyes. You looked around and saw you weren't in your bedroom, you were in Bucky's. But he was nowhere to be seen. You headed down to the kitchen to get some breakfast.

"Morning Y/N. Coffee?" Nat was making herself a cup of coffee.

"Sure"

She made you a cup and sat next to you. "Did you get Bucky back to sleep?"

"Yea. We uh, fell asleep in the same bed. Nothing happened. He just fell asleep peacefully."

She understood why, it was the nightmares; and having someone to hold normally took them away.

Bucky walked in sweating, he must have just came from the gym. He grabbed a water bottle and downed half of it. "Morning, so what do you wanna do today?" Bucky smiled grabbing a plum and biting into it. Plums were his favorite. That was the happy food he got when he was brainwashed by hydra. He said it brought him some peace during those times.

"I was gonna train for a few hours then crochet some and watch a movie." You replied, taking a sip of the coffee Nat had made.

"I can help you train." Bucky offered, he took another bite of his plum.

"Sure, my goal is to try and become stronger than you and Steve. Let me go get changed." You grab a piece of toast and head upstairs. Bucky watches you go.

You changed into a sports bra and leggings. You put your hair up into a pony tail. You headed back to the kitchen and grabbed another piece of toast and a bottle of water.

"You ready Bucky?"

"Only if you are."

The two of you head to the gym and start with the stairs. You hated the stairs, but you liked to get them over with first. You move to the pull up bar, and began doing pull ups and Bucky does them twice as fast without taking a breath.

"Show off."

He smirks. "Well I am a super solider, doll." You blushed a little when he called you doll, it was cute.

You continue with your work out until you are ready to practice your fighting skills. "Hey Buck, you wanna help me improve my fighting?"

"Absolutely."

He meets you on the mat and you brace yourself. You swing first and he catches your punch. But you then swing around you leg and knock him to the floor. Like Steve, Bucky's legs are a weakness. He gets back up and goes to hit you, you block the blow and use his arm to swing yourself onto his shoulders. You use your thighs to wrap around his neck and lock yourself in place, he tries to grab you. He backs into a wall knocking the wind out of you. But you stay steady. You then lean forward and grab his head and swing him around knocking him to the ground.

(Kind of like how Nat took out Happy in ironman 2. The gif wasn't loading on here. Sadly.)

"Ok I forfeit, and yes I went a little easy on you." He gasped, catching his breath.

"A little, that was too easy." You walked over to your water and took a swing. "Well I'm gonna go and take a shower then go to the den to watch a movie. You wanna join me with the movie?"

"Sure met you in 30 minutes?"

"Sounds good"

You head off to your room to shower. You smile knowing he did go easy on you, it was cute.

After your shower you changed into a band shirt and sweats. You grabbed your crochet project and headed to the den. Bucky was waiting on the couch scrolling through movies. "What are you in the mood for doll?"

"What have you not seen yet?"

"I have never watched We Bought A Zoo."

"Thats a good one, its about a guy who buys a zoo because of wife just died and he wanted to get his family away from there and start over."

We start the movie and you crochet and occasionally look up at him. He was so invested in the movie. He was like a little kid, it was adorable.

The movie finished. "So what did you think?"

"It was really good. What are you making?"

"Right now a scarf for Morgan's birthday."

"I know she'll love it."

"Yea but I do need a break. Wanna go walk around outside?"

"Sure."

The two of you head outside. Tony had a beautiful garden filled with flowers and trees. It was by another lake, you didn't understand Tony's obsession with lakes. It was a nice spring day, spring wasn't as terrible as it was 9 years ago. You had come to peace with it over the years. You still hated the pollen, but the world cant live without it.

You ask him about his past. You were interested in learning about him. As you did have a small crush on him.

"Ok I am the eldest of four children, I was born March 10th, 1917. I became friends with Steve Rogers when we were young. In 1941 I joined the army to fight in World War 2, from there I was to be shipped out in 1943 to England. Steve still wasn't able to get in, but he tried to. I shipped out and was captured by Hydra. Steve then came to hundreds of men's rescue including mine and save us from Hydra. We then boarded a train on a mission and as we were in battle, I fell and lost my arm. I was declared deceased as they weren't able to recover my body. From there hydra took me in, brainwashed me to kill anyone who posed a threat to Hydra. They replaced my dead arm with a metal one. I was tortured for over 70 years. Until Steve found me in 2014."

"I remember that day. You dented my car and then you pushed me off when I told you to lower your gun. Its all good though, you were brainwashed."

"I'm sorry doll. But 'I am no longer the Winter Soldier. I am James 'Bucky' Barnes, and you're part of my efforts to make amends.'" He smiled wide. "My therapist said this is what I am to say to people I wronged as the Winter Solider. I'm sorry about your car. I shall make that up to you."

"Don't worry about it Shield replaced it with a (car color and car of choice)" (mine is a blue 1969 Chevy Camaro Convertible)

"Thats good. At least they replaced it. Again I'm sorry."

"Its no biggy."

At that moment your phone was ringing. It was Tony. "Dinner time sis"

"Alright we will be there in a minute"

You hang up. "Ready for dinner?"

"Starving" the two of you head inside to eat with the others.
