I was walking on the sidewalk, my mind somewhere else, when I heard two beeps coming towards me. I turned around and saw two of my friends in a red car. Nancy was waving at me while Glen was the one driving. They stopped right at the road beside me.

"Cool car," I said, smirking.

"Thanks." Glen pushed down his sunglasses. His dark brown hair was slicked back with shiny wax. "Looks like you've got a lot in your arms. How about a ride?"

"You bet." I jumped in and sat on the passenger seat behind him. I leaned forward, placing my elbows on the two front seats. "Oh, and what happened to your hair?"

"Really? That's what you're gonna say." Glen glanced at me and I couldn't help but laugh at his reaction.

"Alright, happy birthday but the hair though."

"That's exactly what I said. The fluff was better," Nancy said as we both stare at Glen's hairstyle different from the usual one.

"Couldn't agree more." Nancy and I did a high-five while Glen shook his head, changing the clutch's position on the gearbox.

"Look, you ladies have your own opinion and we gents also have our own. I bet Rod would think different."

We arrived at Tina's, who has the same reaction as me and Nancy. Rod had barely even stood up from his house's porch when we arrived and he shouted at Glen.

"WHAT IS THAT?!"

"It's wax! You don't know the thing you put it in your hair everyday?!" Glen yelled back.

Rod picked up his sling bag and only then noticed while he was approaching us that we were riding a brand new car.

"This is your birthday present? Sick!" He hopped in as well in the backseat. "A car and all I get was a leather jacket."

"Hey." Tina slapped his arm.

"Don't worry, it's the most comfortable, babe."

"I'd rock a leather jacket," said Glen, out of nowhere.

The rest of us shared a look and chorused, "Nah."

He began to play with his hair, letting a few strands fall in front of his face. "Let a few strands fall, then a tattoo. It looks fire, don't you think?"

We shared a look again and answered, "No."

"Dream on, jock." Nancy patted his shoulder.

"Wildest dreams of Glen Lantz," I added.

"The Fanciful Fancies..." started Tina.

"... of baby boy Gleny," Rod ended, and we all just giggled while Glen shook his head.

"It's my birthday. How are you doing this to me?" He complained, making us all laugh then greet another round of happy birthday's. Glen stepped on the gas and we were zooming our way to school.

"Happy birthday dear Glen,
happy birthday dear Glen,"

He sat on the table, glancing at everyone around him who was singing the occasion's song. His eyes landed on me. Brown eyes filled with mirth and glimmering along with the candles' flames.

I made a goofy face, which made him laugh and even blush. I admired him as his eyes gazed down to the chocolate cake in front of him.

"Happy birthday, happy birthday...
Happy birthday dear Glen!"
