The phone rang again, which startled both Glen and I. He went to take it while I moved aside to see the time on the clock — 12:08 am.

"What?!" Glen yelled to the phone. "Hang on, Nancy!"

He didn't even place the phone properly as he went running to his closet and grabbed a baseball bat.

"Nancy did pull the guy out of her dreams. Trouble is she couldn't get the front door open," he told me while we hurried down the stairs. He opened the front door where his parents were standing on the porch. They turned around with shock in their faces.

"Glen! What are y—"

"Maple! You've been to—"

They were cut short at the sound of screaming from Nancy's house, followed by explosions. Glen and I ignored their pestering, rushing to save Nancy.

"GLEN! MAPLE! Help me!" We heard Nancy cry inside.

"We're coming!" I called back. "Quick, Glen, smash the door knob."

With one mighty swing of the bat, the knob came lose. Glen threw himself at the door and it flew wide open. We hurried in to be met with a lot of black smoke and smashed pieces of the stair banisters.

"Watch out!" I shouted when I saw knives coming our way.

Glen was fast and he blocked Freddy's knives with the bat. He swung it aside and hit Freddy in the face.

"Run!" Glen shouted, hitting Freddy again.

I went running to the dark living room, where my shoes crunched the fragments of a light bulb. There was also black powder on the couch and coffee table. I saw a glint of light coming from the corner and it was the blade of an ax.

"Nancy!" I called, picking up the ax.

"Maple!" I followed her voice and saw her in the kitchen. She ran and gave me a hug.

"Are you alright?!" I asked, seeing her hair became greyer and small cuts on her face.

"Yes! Where's Glen?"

"Coming your way!" We heard Glen yell, Freddy in close pursuit behind him. Once Glen was out of the way, I swung the ax in front of us and Freddy's hand was dismembered from his body.

We all shouted at the blood spurting out and green ooze with larva crawling out of his arm. Just then I realized, that it wasn't the one with the knives. Nancy grabbed my hand and we escaped before Freddy could attack again. She led the way to the basement.

"Wait!" Nancy held out her arms, stopping Glen and I before we triggered the trap in the stairs. She ducked a little bit and lifted her feet to avoid the trip wire.

"Come on." She signed at us after.

I passed Glen the axe as I copied what Nancy did. I almost tripped on a lower step and fell if I didn't held tight to the railings. I made my way safely, descending on the rickety steps.

"Maple, catch." Glen threw me the axe before passing the traps. He was almost on his way through when Freddy burst through the door out of the blue, sending Glen down the stairs, tackling me, and piling on top of Nancy on the basement floor.

"Oh fuck, guys. I'm sorry," Glen said and helped us up.

We were about to run again but once we saw where we stood, it was like ice cold water had been dropped on us.

"Maple, are you seeing what I'm seeing?" Nancy asked beside me.

"I-I'm not sure," I stuttered. "Glen, what are you seeing?"
