lmao i was looking at the lyrics for lonely heart on the genius website and apparently lonely heart was the first song written on CALM

Octavia's POV

I can't figure him out, I find it easy to read people, know what they're thinking, know how they're feeling but with him it's different. Seeing him in the studio in his headspace, was very different from any face-to-face encounter I've ever had. When Calum is in his element he seems very happy when he's with his friends he seems friendly, he seems... nice.

I hadn't meant to stare at him when I did, but when he caught me it was like I couldn't look away, I sat and thought why he seemed so nice, and if he was nice, why was he so mean to me? Not that I cared, I would just prefer if it were for a valid reason other than "he had a bad day."

I hadn't notice Johnson asking me what I thought about the instrumentals to the song, so when I broke our gaze I just nodded my head trusting their judgment.

This was the last studio session for this week and we still hadn't had any progress on the second verse.

Speaking of progress Calum and I were still in the no talking stage unless it was about music, when I would ask him to play certain cords or to slow down and speed up he wouldn't even reply he'd just listen and do as I asked, he still looked at me with disgust, but it was better than arguing.

Except for two days ago, we'd gotten into a really bad disagreement, again it was over something really dumb.

Calum wanted there to be more bass in a certain part of the song whereas I wanted less, Matt added the bass Calum had suggested, and we compared the two, everyone ended up voting for mine as it was aesthetically more pleasing to the ear. He threw a fit and quite literally left the building.

My intentions weren't to tell him he's a bad songwriter, because he's not, he's a really good songwriter and knows what he's doing but mine just sounded better in this case. I've listened to his stuff before and it's really enjoyable. He just took it the way he wanted to take it.

After that had happened Ashton asked me if I wanted to go to lunch with them.

"Get lunch with us, Cal was gonna come with us but I guess not anymore, it's just gonna be me and Luke though, Mikey's gotta go help Crystal with the dogs, Southy was at the vet an-" Ashton rambles

"Dude I think she gets it." Michael laughs stopping Ashton's oversharing.

I giggle at Ashton "sure, I'd love to." I agree since I didn't have much to eat, just a smoothie I'd bought for everyone, including Calum, apparently, he doesn't like the combination of banana and strawberry.

Lunch with the boys was nice, I'd gotten closer with Ashton, Luke, and Michael over the week, I would consider them friends now.

We joke around in the studio all the time. Like when we were all at some sort of writer's block I would sit in the spinny chair as Luke would make paper planes out of boredom and Ashton and Michael would take turns throwing them at me or Calum.

Of course, that got us yelled at by Johnson as Matt snickered at us.

Going into the studio today I knew that Johnson was going to be intense, we'd been working on this song for longer than she would have liked, I mean you can't rush perfection, and that's what the boys wanted. I made sure to let the boys know that this would be a very intense day and we would have zero breaks so when I walked into the lobby I see all four of them just staring at the elevator as the door opened but they refused to walk in, I walk past them into the elevator.
