"How many times do I fly,
Through your head space,
Now it's speeding away,
From a safe place."
Lightning — The Wanted
Kye, Leo, Kiara, Isabelle and Chloe, along with the rest of the soccer team are standing around the massive kitchen, grinning wide, their arms thrown in the air.
The long island in the middle of the kitchen is stacked with food and alcohol, a beer keg standing in the corner. Helium balloons floated against the ceiling, and there were red and gold streamers everywhere.
"I..." I mutter, still in surprise, my hand pressed against my chest. "You guys!"
Everyone swarms around me, grinning widely and throwing greetings my way.
"You thought we'd forget your birthday?" Kye scoffs, ruffling my hair.
"You've been feeding us for months now." Oliver adds, snorting. "Of course we wouldn't forget."
"Thank you," I breathe, grinning around at everyone. "But my birthday is tomorrow."
"Precisely. We party till midnight, baby!" Kiara cheers, and the rest of them join.
A few seconds later, everyone quiets down, and I furrow my brows, confused. I turn to my side, only to see Hunter standing by the doorway, holding a cake.
Two tiers of red velvet, with delicate moons and stars made out of cream cheese littered all over the top and the sides. It's beautiful.
Everyone cheers again, whistling and oooh-ing at the cake.
"Oh my god," I sigh as Hunter steps closer to me, his gorgeous smile shining bright.
"We'll cut it at midnight, yeah?" He leans over to kiss my cheek, before setting it down on the counter.
I throw him a grateful smile, and after a few minutes of me greeting everyone and thanking them, they all disperse to grab drinks and food. Leo starts playing music from the expensive looking speakers in the living room.
"Nessa," I ask, as I grab a can of WhiteClaw. "Who paid for all of this?"
"Hunter rented the penthouse. Everyone else pooled in for food and drinks." She shrugs, like it's not a big deal, but my eyes widen.
"He paid for this?" I gape, gesturing to the floor, referring to the very expensive penthouse we're currently standing in.
"Yep. His mom knows the owner, apparently. Must've gotten a little discount, but he paid for it."
My heart fills to the brim with warmth, the rush of appreciation and affection I feel towards that boy flooding through my body.
Setting my can down, I nudge past a bunch of people, looking for Hunter. I find him in the corner, drinking a beer and people watching in the dark lit living room, where a bunch of people are dancing.
Sauntering right up to him, I loop my hands around his neck, getting up on my tiptoes and pressing my mouth against his.
He smiles into the kiss, placing the beer down on the table next to us, grabbing my hips and pulling me against him.
