Chapter 20
-:-:-
"Hey, lovebirds," Calum teases as he and Luke make their way down to our table. I roll my eyes and greet them both with a warm smile.
"Who's up for another epic band practice tonight?" Luke speaks up and smirks at Michael.
Last night was absolutely amazing. They guys have so much chemistry together; you could tell they used to be really close. I guess it's been a while since Michael has been over to Luke's house. As soon as he stepped through the door, Liz pulled him into a bear hug. You could practically see the fear in his eyes.
When they actually started to play together, it blew me away. It was the first time I've seen Michael play guitar and boy, is he good. I can't believe how talented he is and he's still only in high school. As for singing goes, he didn't. He let Luke and Calum do all of the vocals, and I was kind of disappointed. I think he's self-conscious about his voice. I mean I've never heard it, but from what I imagine its like, he shouldn't be.
"I thought your mom was gonna kill me!" Michael replies and holds up his hands. We all share a laugh that settles into a comfortable silence.
I let out a content sigh and take out my phone. I guess I haven't actually told Julia that I broke up with Luke. Or the fact that I now have three best friends.
'Still with Kyle? ;)' I text her, leaning back on my chair.
'Nah what's been going on, sis?'
'Luke and I broke up but it was mutual. We're still friends' I text her, sneaking a glance at Luke.
'That's good. So you're happy?'
'Very. I now have a squad of 4 people including me :D'
'Cecelia that's amazing! I'm so proud of you!' A blush forms on my cheeks when she responds.
'And you were right btw Michael does like me. And I think I like him too'
'I'm soo sorry girl, I have to go. Love ya!'
I put down my phone with a frown on my face. Is it just me or is she acting kind of strange? She's just in love, that must be it. Kyle is a lucky man to have her and I hope he knows that.
"Her sister, Julia," I hear Michael say and I look up at him. "Everything okay?"
I shake my head, trying to get rid of my thoughts and give him a nod. I shouldn't be thinking like this right now. I should be enjoying myself with my new friends.
"So have you guys seen the new girl?" Calum asks, setting his hands on the table. Jeez, he's really excited about this girl. She must be hot.
"Yeah, Sarah I think?" Luke says.
"Um no, Hottie McHot Hot," Calum says and I let out a series of chuckles. Of course, I totally called that.
"Yeah, man," Michael nods his head and agrees, "she's got a nice rack."
"Dude.." Luke whispers with a smile and jerks his head over to me.
"Not better than yours, of course," Michael says to me and sends me a smirk. I slap his arm and laugh when he squeals like a little girl.
"So is this what boys talk about then?" I ask them, taking a bite of Michael's sandwich.
"Yeah, basically," Calum answers me and I laugh.
These guys really are a blessing. I'm so thankful to have them in my life. They're so carefree and funny. Calum's always cracking jokes and just being an idiot, which makes us all laugh. Not to mention, they're all incredibly sweet and caring; they'll stick up for me anytime I need help. If Hope strutted over here right now and began teasing me, there's a great possibility she would end up on the floor. Michael would most likely be the one to tackle her.
Ahh, Michael. Words can't even describe how much I appreciate him. He's just perfect in every way, shape, and form. And you know what? I think I might be falling for him. And I'm falling for him hard.
"Whatcha thinking about over there?" Michael asks me.
"Nothing.." I murmur softly.
"Bullshit!" Calum yells and I give him a stern glance.
"Look, she's blushing!" Luke laughs and reaches out towards me. I dodge out of the way and pout at them.
"Aww, my little kitten is embarrassed!" Michael pouts and then gives me a warm smile.
A grin grows on my face in response to his words. I lay my arms down on the table and lay my head down on them, providing my face with shelter.
"You guys are mean," I whine, my voice muffled by my sleeves.
"You know we love you, though," Michael laughs. I can feel his hand pat the top of my head lightly and my hidden smile grows bigger.
Just hearing the words 'my' used by Michael and directed towards me sends shivers down my spine. I lift my head up and rest my chin on my arms.
"So are you going to go for Hottie McHot Hot?" I ask Calum, trying to direct all the attention away from myself.
"I don't know. Should I?"
"Why are you asking me?" I say and laugh.
"I don't know you're a girl. Would you want to go out with me if you were her?"
"But I'm not her.."
"Okay fine. Am I attractive?" he asks me and both Michael and Luke shift in their chairs to look at me.
"Oh, definitely."
"How could you?" Michael exclaims and holds his hand over his heart dramatically, "That hurt me in so many ways. I thought we had something special!"
"Oh calm down, Clifford," I say and slap his arm. I only said that because Michael was here, but it wasn't a lie. Calum is pretty good-looking. I wouldn't necessarily go for him though; he feels like more of a brother to me. "Anyways, I'd say to just go for it."
"Sweep her off her feet with that charm!" Luke adds and giggles to himself.
"Alright, maybe I will."
