You really didn't feel anything towards Arvin anymore. It truly saddened you, but there was nothing you could do. You didn't want to force yourself to be in a relationship with him if you felt nothing. You think he doesn't feel anything too. You figured that maybe your feelings for each other weren't enough for it to progress into a relationship.
You told Arvin what you thought and he agreed.
"Maybe we're only supposed to be friends." You told him and he smiled.
"It's better than nothing. I can't imagine my life without you in it. You're... my best friend." Arvin said.
"You're my best friend too." You smiled and kissed his cheek.
Your romantic relationship with Arvin never worked out, but your friendship with him continued to flourish and thrive and that was better.
