"What do you mean? I don't need a new girlfriend, Y/N. You're acting silly." Harrison scoffed as he looked at you with his arms crossed. You stared at him and chuckled bitterly.

"You don't understand." You said quietly. You rubbed your face with your hands and sighed before looking at him straight in his eyes. His eyes used to make you swoon, but now it makes you feel pain and sadness.

"Harrison, it's not the same anymore. Everything's so new and-"

"And? I thought you supported me!" He shrieked and you nodded.

"I do and I will support you for the rest of my life!" You raised your voice a bit, but the crack in your voice betrayed you. "It's just- everything is changing and you're changing. I don't even know who you are anymore. I can't read your expressions like I used to and I realized-"

"Y/N, are you-"

"We're not who we used to be." You sighed as tears streamed down your face. You quickly wiped them away as Harrison looked at you sadly. "Harrison, don't you see? You moved on without me and that, above all, hurts the most because it means we aren't meant for each other."

"But that's okay because I understand that fate won't always be on our side." You sniffed as you walked towards him and held both of his hands. "I love you, I really do. But I feel out of place in your life now and as much as it saddens me, we have to let go."

You cupped his face with your hands and wiped his tears with your thumbs, "You need to let me go. You already started a new chapter of your life without me in it and it's time for me to do the same."

"I can fix it." He begged. "I can st-"

"No, you can't. You'll find someone far better than me and it'll be new and exciting and you'll create new memories in this new chapter of yours. She'll be the best lover you'll have and she might even grow old with you. She just isn't me." You explained with a heavy heart. You pecked his lips and kissed the top of his head before letting go.

"Will I see you again?" He asked and you shook your head. His heart shattered even more. "Oh, I see. It's just that I'm used to seeing you all the time. Five years is a long time."

You nodded, "I know. Just know that I'll always love you and I'll always support you and I won't forget you."

You grabbed your suitcase and walked to the door with Harrison walking behind you. You grabbed the doorknob and opened the door. The cold breeze entering your shared flat. Well, it's only Harrison's flat now.

You turned to look at him one last time and smile.

"Good luck on your new chapter." Harrison said painfully. "I wish nothing but good things to come your way and I hope your new boyfriend isn't an asshole because I'll seriously beat him up for hurting you."

You chuckled lightly, "Thank you. I hope that your new chapter is everything that you've wanted and more."

You looked away from him and left, closing the door behind you. You quickly walked to your car and unlocked it, loaded the suitcase in, got in and locked your car before driving off.

Harrison looked out the window as he saw your car getting farther and smaller until it was out of sight. He sighed to himself and looked at the half empty flat.

You wiped your tears as you drove away. It wasn't helpful that your Barbra Streisand album started playing 'My Man'.

"Oh, my man, I love him so. He'll never know."

"Really, Babs? Not right now." You sniffed before shutting off the music. Starting a new chapter is scary, but if Harrison could do it, so can you.
