Percy POV:

I had been wading in the water trying to think about the argument I had with Annabeth. It was about that good for nothing son of Zeus, Jace, he was a loner, who had recently been brought to camp. He was the oldest loner to have been brought to camp.

He was eighteen and shared a startling resemblance with Luke, son of Hermes. But unlike Luke, Jace was a jerk. He treated everyone horribly.

He was just like Zeus himself, arrogant, bossy, and merciless. Jace showed no kindness, he bullied the children of minor gods, ordered everyone around, and somehow survived teasing Nico di Angelo.

But worst of all. He had no sense of defeat. No matter how mean Jace was everyone fell head over heels for the handsome son of the king of the gods.

Jace hated me because I was successful. He saw Nico and I as rebels that needed to be put in their places. He even said that Thalia was lazy and cared too much about people. He said that if she was going to get anywhere in life she would have to stop moping about Jason.

Jace purposely flirted with Annabeth, just to spite me. Annabeth knew what Jace was like but she was obviously unsettled by the resemblance between Jace and Luke. I just couldn't tell if that unsettlment was in a positive or negative way.

Lately Annabeth had been avoiding my questions about Jace. I asked if she had been seeing him and she seemed very offended. It was a short conversation, it ended with her yelling at me and storming off.

Afterward I waded into the sea to cool off, and catch my thoughts. I jumped to conclusions. Of course Annabeth wouldn't cheat on me. We went through Tarturaus together, we both were seconds from death and each step of the way we were together. I have to find her and apologize.

I stepped out of the water and walked up the beach towards the familiar glowing lights of Camp Half-Blood. I stood in the main plaza and looked all throughout camp but there was no sign of Annabeth. Nor of Jace, and that worried me.

I felt the need to check behind Zeus cabin. What if Annabeth was there, with Jace? I peeked around the corner just in time to see Jace push Annabeth against the wall and kiss her.

Anger swelled in my chest like water trying to break through ground, and water really did. A geyser erupted underneath Jace and Annabeth, flinging them both into the air.

Jace righted himself before Annabeth even knew what happened. He used the air to catch him and he turned and smiled wickedly at me before spinning around and flying off towards the training zone.

All I saw was red, it tinted everything I saw. Anger and betrayal filled my thoughts, but the one thing that was overpowering it all was the deep aching sadness.

Annabeth fell to the ground with a thump and groaned. She sat up and and stared into my eyes.

Tears welled up in her eyes and her eyebrows creased in despair. Liar! Traitor! Decieter! My mind screamed. Leave her in her guilt.

I turned and ran off into the forest. I pulled out Riptide and slashed the first monster I saw without hesitation, and just kept running.
