Shania POV
The sudden noise of a bell ringing woke me up from my sweet slumber. I lifted my head up to see drool on my blazer sleeve and I quickly wiped off the remainants of it from the side of my mouth. I leaned back on my chair staring at the old ceiling with was expired with age, I took in a deep breathe before quickly fluffing my hair. I stood up walking to the door. Once I had noticed Lauren didn't follow me I turned to face her.
"Are you gonna come or not?"
"Oh.. Sorry, I forgot." She said quickly getting up and blushing.
I held the door for her whilst we walked to the playground together in silence. There was a variety of kids ranging from ages 11-16 chattering and walking. Some in groups and some alone. We walked to the centre of the playground meeting Mr Richards who held two litter pickers and black bin bags, both of them in each hand. Once we had reached him he handed one of each to both of us before nodding and walking away. Before I could even walk away from the Year 10 I heard another one shout and run towards us both.
I grinded my teeth together out of anger because that easily recognizable voice only got louder. Before I could escape I was pulled by my blazer to be met with the face of Precious and Lauren.
"Let me go, Precious." I asserted
And just like that she let go of me, I turned to face her and she looked at me with a big smile on her face.
"If this is about that stupid shit you assumed yesterday, don't even fucking start or else you're gonna get hit you cunt." I asserted yet again.
Precious rolled her eyes before facing Lauren.
"Remember that French work you needed help with? Well Shania is fluent in French she can help you."
"But I don't take Fre-" Lauren said before she was cut off.
"You don't take it seriously, silly girl!" She said nudging Lauren in the rib with her elbow which caused her to grunt in pain.
"So can you help her?" Precious begged batting her eyelashes repetitively.
I took a glance at Lauren who only stared back, her blue eyes nervously staring into mine, I bit my lip before nodding and hastily walking away.
Lauren POV
Once Shania had been out of sight I punched Precious on her shoulder blade, and she only replied groaning.
I glared at her "What the fuck was that? You know I don't take fucking French GCSE and even if I did I could ask my sister for help!"
She rubbed her shoulder groaning under her breath "I mean, you like her don't you? But you wont admit it so consider this a favour, you stupid sket."
"I don't like her! Imagine how weird that would be if I did. She's your fucking cousin and my sisters best friend!" I shouted, attracting a few weird looks.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah. Whatever you say. Have fun litter picking, come find me when you stop whining like a bitch" and just like her cousin, she walked off into the distance.
I sighed before slowly dragging my feet towards the back of the school, picking litter and filling the black bin bag on my way so it appeared I done the task given. It was not long before I reached the back of the school and the once dull green field was glistening with white ice particles which stretched for the whole length of the pitch. I took my right foot off of the concrete placing it on to the grass and it crunched underneath my school shoes. I placed my other foot before they started guiding themselves deeper within the field. Nature truly was beautiful and I opened my mouth in awe admiring every small aspect of it.
Surprisingly I was not the only person here and there were a group of boys in my year group, which were easily recognizable. Once one had spotted me the rest turned around and fixed their stare on me. Before I could walk away, I heard a voice that sent shivers down my spine.
"Hey, Lauren. You haven't replied to my snapchat messages recently." A familiar voice spoke out to me. I turned around to see Ryan, standing with his hands shoved in his trouser pockets, his brooding face and worrisome emerald eyes stared at me. The boy was 5'11 and towered over me slightly, when he spoke he looked down on me in triumph of the height difference. His hair was a dirty blonde with a skin fade, the top part was long and gelled back with a wide tooth comb, which looked like he used a whole pot of gel for. His eyebrows were messy and his eyelashes were short and brown. His attempt to grow a beard failed and it only left him with an incomplete moustache which looked idiotic. He wore a black Nike puffer gilet and a dark grey Louis Vuitton belt, even with the belt on his black school trousers they sagged to subtly show a white band with Calvin Klein boldly written across it. The sagging was intentional since he didn't seem to pull them up. And finally, he wore Black Air Force 1s which were covered with dry mud and had deep defining creases in them.
"Sorry Ryan, I just haven't had the time since I've been in isolation and all" I mumbled avoiding eye contact.
"Well you could've made an effort or something. How do you think I felt knowing you haven't even tried to talk to me?"
"I said sorry Ryan, there's not much I can do if I didn't even know you messaged me in the first place."
I tried to sound polite as possible, but Ryan being Ryan took it the wrong way. We weren't in hearing distance for his group to listen but he still acted like I embarrassed him in front of them, before I could turn and walk away he grabbed me by my blazer sleeve pulling me across the field heading to the corner which had a large isolated oak tree. Normally couples would go and hide behind the oak tree to do Lord knows what, or people in the elder years would go there to smoke. I tried to release Ryan's grip off of me but he wouldn't budge.
"Let go of me Ryan."
No response.
"Ryan, I said I'm sorry!" I shouted slapping his hand, he still didn't budge and by the time we got to the tree we weren't the only ones there.
