(A/n just a warning, there are trigger words in this story..you have been warned)
Recap...After about a minute, I decided to go in. I thought maybe she had fallen asleep or was showering. I. Was. Wrong.
There, in the middle of the room, was my sister. Hanging from the ceiling. Tears pricked my eyes as I scanned her lifeless body. My eyes landed on her arms. Cuts. They lined her arm, up and down.
I let out my breath, not realizing I was hold it in. I slowly approached the body, wanting to get a closer look. Her face was extremely bare and she was even more pale than before.
A tear slipped down my cheek and sob escaped my throat. I spotted a note on her desk and ran over to it, eager to know what it said. I searched for who it was addressed to and to my surprise, it was to me. A new wave of tears hit me as I read the letter.
Dear Jasmine,
I'm so, so sorry and I love you with all of my heart. I just couldn't take it anymore. The pressure, the humiliation... the depression. To be honest, you were the only person I loved in this world. This horrible, horrible world. Once again I'm sorry...and I love you.
Love, AmberTears continued to flow out of my eyes as I stuffed the letter into my pocket. I turned and ran out the door, leaving my dead sister there.
"MOM!! DAD!! HELP! PLEASE!!" I screamed running into the living room. "MOM!!" I scanned the room, spotting a note on the coffee table.
Dear Jasmine and Amber,
We went out for the night. Dinner is in the fridge.
XoXo Mom and DadI crumpled the paper and threw it down in frustration right before dialing 911 on my cellphone. It seemed like years before they picked up.
"911, what is your emergency?" The fact that it was a lady who picked up, kinda calmed me down.
"My sister. She committed suicide." I said closing my eyes. They were stinging and my head throbbed slightly.
"Sweetie, how'd she do it?" She seemed a little more interested now.
"Hung herself." I don't know why but I was really calm.
"OK, sweetheart, we're gonna send some cops and an ambulance.
"OK..." I gave her my address and hung up. I dropped my phone on the couch and walked back to Amber's room. I just couldn't believe it. I leaned against the wall and slid down it to the floor. I just sat there, looking at her. Amber. My big sister...who is dead. I closed my eyes, remembering the good times we had. At the beach, the movies, even school.
A knock at the door snapped me out of my thoughts. I got up and trudged to the door. I opened it and a police officer looked at me with boredom and a little pity. I pointed towards Amber's door and the police officer and some paramedics with a gurney rushed past me. I followed them into her room and watched them cut her down from the ceiling. They placed her on the gurney and wheeled her to the ambulance. I walked out the door and an officer strolled towards me.
"Would you like me to call your parents?" He asked me taking out his phone.
"No, I'll do it." He nodded and trudged back over to the paramedics. I walked back into the house and sat on the couch. I picked up my cell phone and dialed my mom's number. I held the cold screen to my ear and listened to the ringing. It seems like forever before she answered the phone.
"Hello?" Her cheerful voice made me feel nauseous.
"Mom...bad news." my voice cracked as I held back my tears.
"Jasmine!? What is it!?" her voice was etched with panic.
"Its Amber..."
