Recap... He buckled me in and I fell asleep
"Jack, who is she?" I didn't know who said that, but I knew she was a girl.
"Uhh. This is my friend Jasmine." I didn't know who the girl was so I kept my eyes closed, pretending to be asleep.
"You two didn't do anything, did y'all."
"No Mom." I could practically hear him roll his eyes.
"OK, I'm off to work." I heard them walk out and the door close so I opened my eyes. I pushed myself up and looked around. I was obviously in Jack's room. Clothes all over the floor, Green Day and All Time Low posters on the walls, and the room smelled like his cologne. I smiled and slipped out of the bed. I trudged down the stairs and into the living room. I looked around the room, studying the pictures on the walls.
"And I've become so numb, I can't feel you there. Become so tired, so much more aware..." The singing trailed off and I smiled. I walked into the kitchen, the smell of food in the air.
"I love your voice." I sat down at the table and looked up at him. Jack smiled and sat a plate of pancakes in front of me.
"Thank you." He sat next to me, resting his chin in his hand. I took a bite of food as he smiled.
"Why aren't you eating?"
"Already did.." I nodded and took another bite.
"Hospital called. He woke up this at 3 o'clock this morning." My eyes widened as happiness filled me. I dropped the fork and hopped up.
"Can I go see him?" He chuckled and ran a hand through his hair.
"You might wanna shower first. You look rough." I frowned at him but it quicked turned into a smile. I was too happy to frown. He stood up and walked down the hall, into a different room. He came back with an Aztec tank top and some blue jean shorts. I raised an eyebrow at him, wondering why he didn't just get me some of his clothes.
"They're my sisters and if Layne's gonna see you, you might as well look cute." I giggled, took the clothes from him, and walked into the bathroom to shower.
*After the shower*
I put the outfit on, which I have to admit, was extremely cute. I brushed and blow dried my hair then braided it and brushed my teeth. I walked into the living room noticing Jack watching a horror movie. I smirked and crept towards him and put my hands on his shoulders, causing him to jump.
"Oh Shit!!!" He snapped his head towards me, his breathing heavy. I was laughing so hard that I fell to the ground, holding my stomach while he scolded me.
"Not funny!!!!" He helped me up and frowned.
"Sorry. Let's go!!" I grabbed his arm and pulled him to the truck.
*Time skip to the hospital*
"I'll be back in a little while. I've gotta get gas and do some errands for my Mom." I nodded and jumped out of the vehicle. I ran into the hospital and up to the front desk, super excited to see Layne.
"Layne Hughman?" The lady looked up at me and checked her computer.
"Do you know the room number?" I nodded.
"Go on ahead." I turned and half walked, half jogged to his room. When I finally reached the door, I took a deep breath and walked in. He was there, laying in the bed, sleeping. There was a nurse there too, cleaning cuts. She saw me and smiled. She walked up to me and patted my shoulder.
"Are you Jasmine?" She had bags under eyes and looked like she hasn't slept in days. I nodded, wondering how she knew me.
"He's been talking about you nonstop. He said you're the only one he wants to see." She patted me once again and left the room. I quietly walked over to his bed and sat in a chair. I took his hand just like last time and pressed it to my cheek. It wasn't as cold as last time which is good. Suddenly I felt his hand move, so I let it go. I could tell he was waking up.
"Layne?" He tensed up and rolled over facing me. When he saw me, his eyes immediately filled with tears.
"J-jasmine?" I nodded and sat on the edge of his bed. I leaned down and wrapped my arms around his neck. He wrapped his uncasted arm around me, burying his head into my shoulder. Tears fell from my eyes as we hugged.
"I'm so glad you're alive." Tears dripped down my back and he hugged me tighter. I pulled away from him and wiped his tears away.
"Jasmine?" He took my hand in his and my face heated up.
"Why'd you leave?" Another tear slipped down his beautiful face.
"I didn't leave. I went for a walk. I told Sarah."
"She told me she didn't know where you were. That's why I freaked out trying to find you."
"Layne...I'm so sorry." Tears fell from my burning eyes. I realized that its my fault hes hurt. He was looking for ME when he almost died. I covered my face as I cried. Amber was right. I am destroying everything.
"Its my fault! I almost killed you!!! I should've told you where I was going! I'm sorry!! Its all my fault!!" I cried harder than I had every cried. I was shaking so much and I couldn't breathe. Layne placed his arm around me and pulled me onto him where I was laying on top of him. He put my head on his chest and hugged me.
"Its not your fault, Jaz. Its nobody's fault. Calm down, I'm right here. I'm fine." We laid there for about 5 minutes, my tears falling onto his chest and him holding me close.
"Layne...Why do you even care about me? Its not like I matter. My mom hates me, my sister killed herself just to get away from us, my dad left. No one cared about me until you came along." I pushed myself off of him and sat beside him. He sat up too and held my hand again. I looked at him, getting lost in his ocean blue eyes. They were sparkling and were so beautiful compared to mine.
That's when he started leaning in. My face began to warm up as he got closer. But right when he got close to my face, he stopped, just long enough to whisper something.
"I care because I love you." He pressed his lips to mine still holding my hand. I closed my eyes and kissed back. The kiss was magical. His lips were soft and the kiss was sweet and full of love. He finally pulled away and I opened my eyes. His cheeks were pink and I'm sure mine was beet red. I rested my forehead against his and whispered 4 little words.
"I love you, too."
