Eyes fluttering open, Helen finds herself laying on the couch- the morning sunrise illuminating the apartment and the sound of spring birds chirping as they pass her window.
Looking around at the bare apartment, she finds it spotless- almost like she was never here the night before. Turning to find Max: he is nowhere in sight. The blood in her body courses faster with her rapid heart beat as she sits up: fearful that he is missing.
"Morning!" Happily coming down her hallway from the bathroom, Max smiles widely at Helen- despite her obvious panic. "How'd you sleep?"
"Um...I...I slept fine. How long were you up?"
"Long enough to make breakfast quiche and take a shower before it's done." As if on cue, the oven bell rings and he points to the oven- excitedly. "Haha, see! Perfect timing all around."
Coming over to her, he bends down kissing her forehead before going to the kitchen to fetch their food.
"You're place is beautiful by the way. Really loving the deco in here." Blushing bashfully, Helen stands up and stretches before joining him in the kitchen at the counter. "That shower mwah! I could live in that."
"No vacancy's...you didn't put...put weed in this did you?" She asks as she looks at the delectable quiche.
"No. I won't double stack you two days in a row." Nodding a few times out of appreciation- Helen glances around. As if knowing what she's thinking, he smiles and pecks her lips. "You were like a champ last night."
"I...I ate all of it?"
"You don't remember?"
"N...No..."
"You annihilated that thing. Didn't get sick or anything. I'm proud of you." His hands hang on her hips and he brings his front to her. "You were so stoned- it was bloody magnificent."
"What was I like?"
"Super chill and calm. Relaxed. We just cuddled on the couch until you fell asleep."
"So I didn't...ya know...get crazy?"
"It's not alcohol or cocaine. You don't act like they do in the movies. You just relax. Although- in hindsight of it all after getting off the phone with Casey- I realize I put way too much Kush in that pizza. Your little body was so high- you were nearly passed out before you got to the fourth out of six slices. An eight slice pizza with 200 mg of Kush...ooo Mama, you hit it hard."
6/8 slices of pizza?!
No wonder I feel overly full!
No wonder I don't remember what the hell went on!
"So what you're saying is you overdosed me?"
"Just a bit. By accident!! He quickly adds- not wanting her to think he did it on purpose.
"Well...no wonder I feel like crap." His face drops, realizing what he has done. He stares at the quiche and wishes he didn't make the pizza last night. He loosens his hold on her- about to let go altogether.
Noticing how remorseful he looks, Helen wraps her arms around him tighter and rests her head against his chest.
"I ate way too much..."
"You're not hungry- are you?" He sadly asks- having worked so hard to make that quiche perfect for her.
"I'll eat a bit...it does look and smell delicious. I really appreciate it."
