The rest of week was mostly the same, but somethings were different:
Regina didn't talk to me.
Killian and Peter didn't even look at me.High school is so confusing.
But on the bright side, today is Thursday! And that means Regina's party is tomorrow night.
First period, I sat down in my usual seat next to Belle and Mary Margaret and in front of Regina who was still being oddly quiet.
I think this was my favorite class of the day.
Mr. Gold, who I was finding out was really weird and kind of scary, walked over between me and Belle's desks. He's been saying mean things to Belle all week, just her. She hasn't said anything back to him, but she didn't cry anymore. I wondered what he was going to say today.
"Miss French."
She looked up from her book.
"Yes?" She asked weakly.
"Is that the only word you know? Can't you say anything else? Oh yeah, I forgot. You're not very smart."
Belle looked like something snapped in her.
"Yes, I am. I'm smarter than a lot of people in this class! I don't know why you hate me, but you're going to regret it!"
Mr. Gold had a look of surprise and something I else I couldn't identify in his eyes.
"That's it, Miss French. You've earned a detention."
"Why? Because I stood up for myself?"
"Right after school, you're going to be in here with me, and that's final."
Belle rolled her eyes and went back to her book.
I turned to Mary Margaret.
"I can't believe he did that. Its like he was trying to get her a detention." I said.
"I know. He's so mean."
Mr. Gold seemed to be in a good mood today despite his argument with Belle.
"You know what, you guys deserve a day off." The words "day off" made the whole class clap and cheer.I looked around the room and noticed there was still people that I didn't know.
I looked at Ruby who was sitting on the desk who I assumed was her new boyfriend Billy. He looked like a nice guy for her.I watched Mary Margaret go sit down next to David, despite him having a girlfriend. Although, he didn't look like he cared that Mary Margaret was flirting with him. I think he actually liked it. What a player.
Belle asked me if I wanted to go talk to Ruby and Billy with her, but I shook my head. I didn't really feel like it. I could tell Belle and Ruby were really close friends and it reminded me of me and Lily. I pushed the thought out of my head; it was time to move on.
A boy who I recognized as Jeff sat down next to me.
"So what's your story?" He asked.
"My, story?" I didn't know what game he was playing, but I really didn't want to play.
"Yeah, you know what? Never mind. There's nothing to talk about."
"Um. Yeah."
"You say yeah a lot you know."
"Yeah I guess. You're Jeff right?"
He had a nice smile.
"Jefferson, actually."
"Jefferson. Got it. I'm-"
"I know who you are, Emma."
"Uh okay?"
"You know what sucks?"
"High school?"
"Well yeah. But I'm taking about remembering."
Is there anyone normal in this school?
"Remembering what?"
"Things. Things some people I know messed up. And now we may never get them back. And it sucks."
He sounded like a lunatic. "You're kind of crazy, no offense."
"Some call me mad, actually."
He laughed. "Oh If you only could see the humor in all this. Hopefully soon you will. Hopefully we all will."
He walked away. What the hell just happened?
I looked at Regina who was pretending she didn't just hear all of that. She was doodling on her paper.
"What are you drawing?" I asked her.
She showed me the paper. It was a picture of a queen sitting on a throne...crying.
"Why is she crying?"
She stared down at her drawing and told me."She use to be a really nice person. People hurt her, took everything away from her, made her into an evil monster. She held this power for so long, and for a while she liked it. But deep down inside still lived that little innocent girl. but she was far from innocent now, she thought she could never be good again."
She was talking about herself.
A tear ran down her cheek but she quickly wiped it away in the fear of anyone seeing.
"Regina-"
Her bitterness came back.
"Don't Swan." She left me and sat down next to her boyfriend.
I was starting to figure out why she was like this. She said they took everything away from her. So bad home life maybe?
I was sitting all alone in the classroom again.
Didn't this period ever end?So the rest of the day played out normal; well as normal as this school could get anyways.
I went to my classes, did my work, went to lunch which today basically consisted of Ruby talking about Billy, Mary Margaret taking about David and Kathryn, and Belle going on about her hatred for Gold. I added here and there. I never really talked about myself though. All was well until the final bell rang at the end of the day. My friends and I, minus Belle who was making her way to detention, were walking out when we witnessed a fight between Kathryn and Regina.
Kathryn was going on about how pathetic Regina is, and Regina was fighting back by saying that Kathryn is a terrible and backstabbing friend.
We just watched until Kathryn back handed Regina across the face.
Regina couldn't take anymore and drove her fist straight into Kathryn's nose.
I felt really bad for Regina actually, and felt the urge to step between them.
The second I did I wished I hadn't.
Kathryn told me to move out of her way, and when I didn't she slapped me across the face and I may have did it back.
Mary Margaret and Ruby were shouting at me to stop, but it wasn't them that stopped me.
Mr. Leroy caught all of us and sentenced us to detention. I guess Belle wouldn't be alone now.
I guess Ruby and Mary Margaret felt bad for me, or at least Ruby did because she told Mr. Leroy that they cheered the fight on.
"Nolan and Mills, my room. Swan, Blanchard, and Lucas, you can go to Gold's room."
Why Mr. Leroy sent Kathryn and Regina to the same detention room is beyond me, actually it kind of made sense since they hated each other.
I, on the other hand, was relieved I'd have my friends with me in detention.
"I've never been in detention before." Mary Margret admitted.
"Me either." I added.
"It's not so bad actually. Too bad we didn't get a hot teacher though." This didn't surprise me coming from Ruby.
Ruby walked ahead of us, eager to get to detention apparently, but when she reached the door her mouth dropped open. The door was shut, but she was looking through the window.
"Oh. My. God. Guys-"
Me and Mary Margaret ran to look through the door into Mr.Gold's room.
I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Belle was sitting on top of his desk with her legs wrapped around Mr.Gold's torso, and they were...making out.
Mary Margaret and me were both speechless.
"Talk about a gold digger." Ruby said."Ruby!" Mary Margaret said.
"Sorry. You have to admit, it was pretty funny though."
Mary Margaret didn't react.
"Guys should we knock or leave?" I asked.
"I don't know. Did they see us?" Mary Margaret asked.
"Nope. They're to busy sucking each other's faces off." Ruby said.
I pulled both of them away from the door and we sat down in front of the lockers to talk.
"I just can't believe- Belle? She was always so good." Mary Margaret said."Good girls like bad boys."
"Yeah but a teacher? Especially one that hates you. And Belle?"
"I mean, we all knew she was hiding something." Ruby shrugged. We never went to detention that day.
