I stared in disbelief as monsters and humans were slaughtered before my eyes. The sounds of sobs, screams, gunshots, and yelling deafened my ears yet echoed in my mind. I finally snapped out of it and saw my mother and father gone. I walked backwards as one of the 'knights' walked towards me. "S-sir, do we have to kill children?" He said into his walkie-talkie while aiming his gun towards me. The knight nodded and lowered his head. I could make out a soft 'sorry, little one.' as he shot his gun towards me. I ducked and the bullet went right past my head. I saw his eyes widen in shock as I tackled him and took his gun. I put the tip of the gun to his chest where his heart would be and put my finger on the trigger. "I'll let you live. Runoff now." I let them go and ran into a shop. Someone poked their head from behind the counter. It was my mother. I ran over to the counter. "Mother- Is everyone here?" I asked with a voice quiet enough the guards wouldn't hear me yet my mother would hear me easily. She shook her said, I could see tears running down her face. "Your father was one of the few who were shot as soon as it happened. I felt my face burn up and nodded, not wanting to cry now. We heard voices outside the door and I quickly tiptoed to the back of the counter and sat there, seeing the store manager with a shotgun and other people I faintly knew from my village. I held the gun tightly to my chest and waited. The door slammed open, and someone yelled: 'If anyone is here, come out now!" From the number of footsteps, I could hear at least 3 people. I looked at the store manager and nodded, we both stood up and shot the knights. There were three of them, as I suspected. They all felt before they could even react. We got up and dragged the dead bodies behind the counter,  not wanting any of the other knights to know anyone was here. I looked at my mother. One of the people I didn't know too well said that we couldn't stay here because we will be found eventually, while the store manager said there is no leaving this area yet, there are too many guards roaming around. One of the other ones said that there will be no leaving once they stop patrolling because there will probably be a wall. I listened to them and outside, I could hear walking outside. Not ideal. I shushed them all as I listened, they said muffled words that I could barely understand. I looked at the store manager and my mother. "East wall is not guarded. We have to go now." I said to them with a hushed voice. They nodded and we got up, low enough to be not seen through the windows. We made our way to the back of the store and creaked open the door, no guards yet. I ran out first and just ran, hoping everyone was following me. I stopped in my tracks when I saw two guards at the east gate exit. I quickly ran to behind a building. I looked back to see no one following me. My heart stopped, I looked around to see if anyone was nearby, and I could see my mother behind a tree, with a knight's gun aimed at the tree. I put my finger on the trigger and aimed at the Knight, waiting for him to stop moving. He stopped when he made it a few feet away from the tree and started mouthing words to her which I couldn't hear. I shot the gun and the person fell flat onto the ground. My mother looked over in my direction and ran towards me. "Where is everyone?" I asked. "The knights shot them, I escaped." I hugged my mother, feeling tears go down my face. Everyone, I have ever known was being slaughtered. "Shh...it's ok Asurea." I nodded, but my brain wouldn't listen. My mother picked me up and ran towards the east gate's walls, making sure not to alert the guards. We made it to the wall and I stood on her hands and jumped onto the edge of the wall. I looked down at my mother, who was telling me to put the rope down. I nodded, took my rope out of my pocket, untangled it, and dropped some of it down to my mother. She grabbed the rope and started climbing up. When my mother was almost to the top of the wall, something unexpected happened. A guard grabbed me from behind, making me almost drop the rope but I still held on to it. I started to try to get the guard off of me, but they were too big for me to move. He grabbed a knife out of his pocket and held it to my neck. "Talk and I'll do it." He said to me in a sinister, dark tone. I nodded and stood there, fearing that my life would be cut (pun not intended) short. My mother climbed onto the top of the wall and saw the guard with me as their hostage. I could see the colour drain from their face as my mother stood there. The guard threw me aside and I hit my head on the stone, cold, hard bricks that made this wall. I groaned in pain as I looked up to see my mother being carried away, with two more guards coming towards me. I stumbled backwards, walking like a crab until I was pinned against a railing. "Come here little girl, we don't bite." The first guard said with the second guard chuckling. I stood up, by was kicked down again. I saw one of them pull their gun out of their holster and aim it at my head. Then, something else unexpected happened. A gunshot rang through the air, yet it wasn't one of the guard's bullets. The body fell to the ground and the second guard turned around, and there stood the guard I let live earlier. The second guard yelled at him for being a traitor, but the guard wasn't listening and shot him through the mouth. The body fell to the ground lifelessly, then the guard walked over to me. Everything else was a blur, but I knew the guard picked me up and ran from the village. I took one last look at my home, now ruined by the Lord. I vowed myself that I will make the Lord feel justice and my rage.
