The sky was now a swirl of dark and grey canvas with smudges of whites which glimmer everytime lightening struck. I pressed my cheek against the glass window. My palms flat on either side of my face. It was about to rain and I really wanted to go outside. But the last time I played underneath the rain mother wasn't happy with me. She had seized my doll house and warned me not to play outside when it rains again.

I wanted to go out and play once again, but I didn't want my doll house taken away from me. I smiled as the first droplets of water hit the glass and rolled down, the trail disappearing as it went.

My tiny feet shuffled as I turned around to inspect behind me.
Mom was preparing dinner while dad was in his study doing whatever working dad's do. Maybe if I went out and came back quietly, changed my clothes quickly no one would notice I was gone. And I would get to play under the rain.

My chubby fingers latched onto the door handle and pulled, letting the cold air sting my face. The smell of damp earth and grass filled my nostrils and I inhaled deeply. As I was about to run outside to sweet sweet freedom when a large arm wrapped around my waist and a very familiar voice whispered in my ear.

"Where's my little sea creature going huh?" Tickles followed his words, leaving me gasping for air as I struggled and wriggled against his strong hold.

"Daddy stop,....I ca...can't breath." My tummy hurt as I laughed more, some of my black curls getting into my mouth in the process. I spit them out quickly earning deep chuckles from my very amused father who has finally stopped torturing me with his fingers.

I scowled at him and folded my arms against my chest in a defying stance. Or should I say I folded them as much as I could because this position was quite uncomfortable. I was practically nestled between his thighs while we were sprawled on the floor.

He cupped my cheek turning my face towards him his warm brown eyes crinkling with mirth.
"Hey don't be mad, I saved you from a lot of scolding from your Mama. You do know she was going to find out you went out under the rain right?". I huffed out loud. He was right, she would always find out. I scowled more. Why was he always right?

"Come on let's go play some notes before dinner's ready." My once gloomy expression glowed immediately at the thought of singing. Another thing I loved was singing my heart out.
So if I couldn't play with water singing would do.

"Race you." I screamed after he had released his hold on me and sprinted towards the piano. I perched myself on the edge of the seat and waited for my dad to catch up.

When he finally settled next to me i eagerly choose a song for him to play. His hands moved fluidly on the keys and I hummed along to the melody creating my own symphony and blending it in.

When we were done my mother was clapping behind us and smiling wildly. Her black hair tied into a tight bun and yellow apron wrapped around her small frame.

"Come let's go eat." My father said dragging me to my feet to the table. He took me by my armpits and set me on my seat at the same time he placed a kiss to my mother's temple. I smiled taking in the sight of them together. Most kids would find their parents public display of affection gross but I found it endearing. Was this how I would be when I grew up? I do wonder.

"Eat up honey, your food's getting cold." My mom coerced.

I awoke to the shrill sound of my alarm. I slammed a hand down on the stupid thing turning around and burying my face in my pillow. If I didn't get up now I was gonna be late for school. And if I missed a single period my mom's gonna be called in. And I am so not ready to get on my mom's bad side. So off to school it is.
