"No it's not happening Elina, you know how I feel about parties" I grumbled folding the clothes I just took from the drier and shoving them in my closet." Come on Raven, we hardly go out together anymore. " I gave her a deadpan look watching her lean figure stretched out on my bed like a feline creature.
" Ok we go out but not to things like this, you always ditch me, saying you have homework and chores but I know this time you're free." She exclaimed slapping her hands on her hips.
Elina has been trying since morning to get me to attend a party with her but I wasn't going to go. This wasn't the first time she has asked and I've always turned her down or made an excuse just to get out of it because please Raven lockwood at a party yeah right.
I've never even tasted alcohol in my life. The most risky thing I've ever done was probably ruining my neighbors bushes one time and I literally grovelled for her to forgive me and even volunteered tending to them every sunday's. I could not see myself at a party at all. It was just going to be a recipe for disaster.
"You know why I can't go Elina. I'm literally the most anti-social person you've ever met I would just bore you to death there with my excessive awkwardness." I tried joking but she just stared blankly at me.
"I hate going alone Raven, I need my best friend with me during parties not random people from school. Please just say you'll go please." She rose to her knees on my bed hands clasped together lips jutted out in a pout and eyes wide. Ok puppy dog eye look, really Elina you play dirty.
I stared at her unsure. "I really don't think it's a good idea Elina and my mom's coming home today. I haven't seen her in a while she might want to spend sometime with me." Elina looked determined though she was almost as stubborn as me. And I mean that cause I'm way more stubborn. She was about to say something when we heard the front door open. I gave her a look that said drop it before leaving my room.
Rushing downstairs to greet my mother,
There she stood at the foot of the stairs looking radiant as ever. Her sharp blue eyes scanned the room, straight nose leading to full lips stained with red lipstick which was as always kept in a flat line tipped slightly as she locked eyes with me. Her long black hair was laying in waves to her waist line making her look like a model from a vogue magazine front page. She wore a white dress shirt tucked into a charcoal black pencil skirt, which touched the top of her knees. Her feet which were clad in louibutin heels, carried her forward to were I stood at the top of the staircase watching her.
I looked nothing like my mother. She was everything I was not. Full breasts, curvy hips and beautiful eyes. While i had boring brown eyes, Hair which needed taming and combing and an ass as flat as a chopping board. I took after my dad in every way. Not that am saying my dad wasn't good looking because he was.I just didn't pull it off I guess.
"Darling, how are you?" My mom pulled me into a bone crushing hug her chanel no.5 perfume wrapping around me like a cocoon.
"I'm good mom, how was your trip?" I said pulling away to look at her. Up close she looked really stressed out. Her eyes had bags underneath them and her body screamed ' i need sleep '.
"It was good, we won the case. the accused actually pleaded guilty so it was easy this time around. It's rare we get these kind of cases it's like some higher power just wants to give me a break." She laughed bitterly and picked a stray strand of my hair and put it behind my hair.
"Mrs lockwood welcome back home." Elina's voiced screeched from behind me. She pushed me out of the way and stood in front of my mom. Oh God no.
" Hello Elina how's your mother doing." Mom looked amused as she saw my mortified expression.
"She's very good Mrs lockwood I'll tell her you sent your regards." My bestfriend beamed.
" Please call me Nedine Elina you're practically part of the family now." My mom's Velvety voce drawled. I couldn't see Elina but I knew she was smiling like Santa on crack right now.
" Ok Mrs...I mean Nedine I wanted to ask if Raven and I could go to a party tonight I promise to bring her home before 11 and I have pepper sprays just in case any drunk fool tries anything please." She rambled all in one breath. She was giving her those damn puppy dog eyes. I locked eyes with my mom and mouthed 'No' but then I guess I wasn't convincing enough.
" Of course Elina you guys can go but make sure you don't drink anything and be back home on time." My traitor mother replied smiling my way. No no no no no this can't be happening.
"Thank you Nedine you're a goddess." My bestfriend chimed making my mom laugh heartily and walk past us to her room.
I turned to my Elina with a hard glare "you just had to do that didn't you." She rolled her eyes at me not phased at all.
" Oh come on Raven it's just a party what's the worse that could happen." She said raising a perfect brow at me and pushing me back into my room.
Ok then, I guess I'm going to this shit. It better be worth my while though.
