I huffed in frustration as coach yelled my surname. Putting on the fakest smile i could muster. I turned towards him."Yes sir." I said using a sickly sweet voice. Too sweet.
He's eyes narrowed at me as he flicked his wrist staring at his watch."Class started 15 minutes ago Lockwood. You're late again." He grunted. I almost rolled my eyes.
What's with him and calling me by my surname."Am sorry sir it won't happen again." I said giving him a tight-lipped smile. Coach Johnson just smiled wickedly at me. Ok that's not good.
"Oh am sure it won't. Take two laps..." He spat at me. Just great.
"Sir..." I tried to protest. He glared at me menacingly and pointed towards the tracks leaving no room for arguments.
I sighed and fixed my shoe laces to make sure they weren't loose then I took off in a jog. I cursed coach Johnson in every language I knew in my head as I ran. What was his problem with me. I haven't done anything wrong to him. Urghhhhh, it's pointless thinking things like this Raven just finish your lap and go sit down.
I was half way through my first lap when I heard shoes other than mine squeaking against the track. I turned to my left to see Orion right by my side with the most mischievous look on his face. Those smoldering amber eyes staring deeply at me.
I didn't like him looking at me like that so I increased my pace to lose him but he had other plans. He broke off in a run too and caught up with me, chuckling slightly.
"Are you running away from me." He asked me. Mirth dancing in he's eyes."Psst ....no...you wish." I stuttered out already almost out of breath. I told you I wasn't really athletic.
Orion just smirked at me and said;
"I see you are coach's favorite.""Yeah I'm glad you noticed." I retorted sarcastically.
He quirked that perfect brow at me, "you're really something else Raven."
If I said I didn't love the way my name rolled off his tongue I'd be lying. I whipped my head slowly to clear my thoughts.
"I'm trying to run hear mister if you don't mind." I snapped between puffs of breath.
" Oh I do mind and besides if we weren't talking you wouldn't have noticed that you've finished your laps." What the fuck does he mean I finished my laps.
I looked around and sure enough I was at the end of the lane. My mouth opened and closed as I gaped at the beautiful boy before me. His golden orbs shimmered under the harsh rays of the sun. And I could have sworn they glowed for a second.
"Now what." I huffed placing my hands against my knees to support myself. I was really out of shape. I needed to start my cardio again else I'd always be worn out anytime coach decides to make me suffer. Orion didn't reply to my to my question instead he unwrapped a cherry flavoured candy stick. It had swirls around it and it was flat. His tongue stuck out, pink and thick, wrapping around the sweet delight and sucking it into his mouth. I stood transfixed my gaze stuck on his mouth. Illicit thoughts filtered my mind, I wished I was in place of that candy right now. Wait!.....What the fuck!
"Close you mouth Ravenna you might catch flies." His velvety voice reached my ears snapping me out of my day dream. I glared at his smug face. He infuriated me so much. Probably more than Avalanche did and I didn't know if that was a good thing or a bad thing.
I was about to spit profanities at him when something caught my eye behind him. It was Teejay and he's friends and they were aiming a football at his head.
I remembered when I was first shot at with a ball. That shit hurts like hell. What's wrong with them anyway. I thought Avalanche warned them to stop picking on his brother.I opened my mouth to tell them to stop but they already sent the ball hurtling towards us. It moved through the air aiming for it's target. I drew in a breath. I was so gonna kill those boys after this.
Before it could hit Orion though. He had whipped around faster than Elena could finish a club sandwich and let me tell you she was damn fast that girl. He caught the ball with both hands, the ends close to his eyes. I was immediately impressed. Was he as athletic as Avalanche too.My question was answered when he yelled;
"Hey Teejay, catch." He hurled the ball back at them, aiming directly for Teejay. His eyes widened as the ball whipped through the air hitting him in the stomach and sending flying into the bleachers before he could even catch it.A laughter of surprise and amusement bubbled up Inside me and I let it out. I wasn't one to laugh at another's misfortune but that was beyond hilarious.
"How the fuck did you do that." I managed to say between laughter.
" It's physics." He smirked at me and I rolled my eyes. This guy.
It would seem coach had been staring at the whole scenario cause next thing he was bellowing on top of his lungs.
" Hey kid, come for try outs next week and I'm not asking." He stormed off after that leaving us to stare at his retreating back. Orion turned to look at me lips pursed and the white stick of his candy sticking out.
"Is he always like this?"I turned to walk back to the bleachers since I was tired of standing and gym class was almost over. Orion followed trailing by my side.
"He's even worse when his pissed." I muttered grabbing my water bottle."So you better go for try outs or you might just find yourself facing the same situation I face everytime." He quirked a dark brow at me but said nothing else.
We were still standing when he stiffened for a second like he zoned out or something. Then he smiled at me. He was truly a sight
" I have to go Raven but I hope to see you soon." His words left me speechless for a second but I found my voice just as quick."Whatever." I muttered turning away, he just chuckled and honest to God it sounded heavenly. He gave me one last look before jogging over to Avalanche who had been staring at us with an undescribable expression on his face.
What's up with that......
