Mara kept running. She didn't stop for a moment-at least not until she was tackled to the ground
"Are you Mara Briar Remington?" one of the men asked her as he planted his knee in her back
"And here I thought that I had a memorable face" Mara said with a pout
"You're constantly putting your family in danger, Mara" the man said to which Mara rolled her eyes
"Yeah, sure, I'll just totally give up and join you" Mara said sarcastically as she later still on the ground
"You're father would be ashamed that you haven't even thought about embracing you're heritage" the man said and Mara huffed
"You know this isn't going to convince me and besides that, if I get caught because of you dumbasses, I'll kill you, I will literally murder you" Mara said threateningly and suddenly she couldn't feel the man's knee on her back anymore and then she stood up
"Now, can we speak like adults?" The man asked. It was the brown haired one; William James Hood, though he preferred to be called Billy
"Yeah, sure. Whatever, Bill" Mara said as she dusted herself off
"You really need to join us. You know that Carleton is dangerous and that he needs to be stopped" Billy said in a serious tone
"Look, I know not joining you and ignoring you and shooting at you is really bad on my part but you know what? I don't see how it has anything to do with me to begin with. All I did was kill one guy and he was beating a woman in an alley, the way I see it is that President Carleton is pissed off because someone was brave enough to kill one of his friends. Easy as that" Mara said clearly irritated with Billy
"No, Mara, he's pissed off because he knows that you killed him" Billy replied and Mara scoffed
"Whatever, let him come... I don't care anymore" Mara said as she turned and started to walk away
"Mara, it's not just demons, it's everything ranging from Centaurs to Elves. They know that they have the chance to cut a deal with Carleton and they're not gonna miss out" Billy said but she kept walking
"I'm not a little girl anymore and I'm sure as hell not afraid of President Carleton" Mara said over her shoulder as she kept walking
