Mara was walking down the street. In one day, her entire world had been flipped upside down. Everything she once knew became small. She didn't know what to do. On one hand, she wanted to go and have a drink, on the other, she knew that she couldn't. So, she walked to Central Park, it was midnight, naturally the only light aside from the lamp posts came from the moon
"It's beautiful, isn't it?" she heard from beside her as she gazed at the moon
"Yeah, it is" Mara said as she turned her head to see Jason
"So, what's got you so caught up that you're not paying any attention to your surroundings?" Jason asked
"Have you ever been raised to believe that you're one thing and then to be told that your something else?" Mara questioned to which Jason laughed lightly
"More than you know" he said
"I... just don't know who I am anymore" Mara said, she leaned against a tree and continued to stare at the moon
"I get it. Evelyn's your sister, your mother got arrested. You have high standards to live up to" Jason said and Mara nodded
"And on top of that, I got my entire world flipped upside down which gave me even higher standards and expectations" Mara said, Jason sighed
"I know that I seem kind of intimidating but I see you as a friend" Jason said admittedly
"A friend?" Mara questioned
"You're the only person I hang out with that doesn't have a big mouth" Jason replied and Mara laughed
"I guess I got that right" Mara said
"So, why don't you tell me what's really going on?" Jason asked and Mara thought of reasons that she couldn't but made the decision to talk about it
"Evelyn found the file about Clara Varamene's death. Apparently, I'm part of the last people in the Foxdale bloodline along with Evelyn" Mara said
"Doesn't seem like a big deal to me" Jason said
"I grew up with Jonathan Remington as a father figure. He cared about me, he treated me like he would his own children. I feel like if I ever admit that he's not my father... that it'd be a betrayal" Mara said, everything she said was true for a change and it felt nice to be honest
"Jonathan Victor Remington might have been the nicest guy that I've ever met. I don't think he'd see this as a betrayal at all. I think that maybe just maybe, he had that little shred of hope that you would find out who you really are" Jason said and Mara smiled
"It's kind of nice having someone to talk to" Mara said
"We're just two emotionally challenged adults having a conversation" Jason said
"No, I mean it. I grew up with a mother that spent her days ignoring me completely, she didn't provide after Jonathan died, I was stealing from rich people just so I could feed us both and it was more than once that I got caught and I never got a thank you. So, yes, I mean it, it's really great talking to someone that might have the same amount of emotional baggage as me" Mara said, it was silent for a while
"Instead of Daddy issues, you got mommy issues" Jason said with a smirk
"You know what, I actually think that's kind of funny, so in your face" Mara said
