They arrived back at the institute; Evelyn was relieved that they were okay but Mara just needed some space; she went into her room, locked the door, closed the blinds and turned the lights out. It was dark and she was alone. That was how she liked it. She sat at the end of her bed and cried; she couldn't believe that her brother was dead. As a last resort, she had a bottle of whiskey. She opened it and took a sip, the burning sensation in her chest didn't bother her, she had gotten used to the pain, but still, she was in pain. Too much grief for one lifetime. She contemplated suicide but realized that it was ridiculous before closing the bottle, shoving it back in her bag and closing her eyes. It had been a rough few weeks, a rough few years and a rough lifetime
