I frantically dug through my drawers, searching for a long sleeve shirt. I couldn't find any. I looked at my forearms again and could only see failure. Failure to hide the pain. Failure to have control.
This would have been fine I could deal with this any other Saturday but today. Any other Saturday I could stay home all weekend, figure out a plan. Only leaving the house on flash business. But no life just had to screw me over.
The one time the scars don't fade... just happens to be the same weekend that team arrow was coming to Central. We have plans to go to the bar and catch up without the stress of the worlds impending doom to worry about.I can lie and hide from team flash, but they aren't trained to detect lies, team arrow are. Well at least Oliver and Dig are, Felicity can be oblivious as the rest of them.

After having a slight panic attack about the team arrow scenario. I flashed to the store and picked up some new shirts and left the money in the counter. After triple checking that all scars were covered, I raced to the labs.

"Where's Barry? It's almost noon." I hear a Cisco's voice say from the cortex.
"I don't know, we had lunch plans but he never showed." Another male voice. But not just any male voice., that voice was Oliver.
Shit, shit, shit. I forgot all about lunch with Oliver and the team.
I plastered the smile on my face and walked into the cortex to join my friends. "Hey guys."
"Barry where were you? We were supposed to have lunch." Felicity pouted as she engulfed Barry in a bear hug. Barry tried to conceal his flinch at her touch.
Well Felicity, I'm sorry I missed lunch but I was a bit preoccupied trying to hide the scars that cover my arms. And oh yea reconstructing my mask so that I would be prepared to face you guys. Is what I wanted so desperately to say but instead, "Sorry Felicity, I didn't get to sleep until 3 in the morning and I slept in." I chanced a glance and Dig and the Oliver. Dig bought my excuse, Oliver was, Oliver was frowning? "Anyways, how've you guys been?"
Oliver answered before Felicity could even open her mouth, "Everything's fine Barry. Can I speak with you a moment?" I nodded but made no effort to move. Oliver noticed this. "Alone." It was a statement not a question. I sighed and got up from my position of leaning on the desk and moved to follow Oliver.
Oliver led me to the elevator which he pressed the button for the roof. Meanwhile I was freaking out! What if Oliver knows my smiles are fake. What if he knows I'm not okay. What if he knows there's a gaping hole where the void is consuming me. What if he knows about the scars.
The elevator comes to a stop. I follow Oliver silently as he leads me to out of the elevator to look over Central City. I hear a him take a deep breath and then the dreaded question."Barry... are you okay?"
