Chapter 4

Jade's POV

On our way back, Raven told me about a cave in a forest near their house. They used to go there often the year they moved here. 

- That reminds me, there was a church in France, it had these beautiful blue and gold ceilings. I went there when my parents were arguing. I really like it here, but that's something I miss from France.

It felt good to open up to Raven. They seemed so passionate about what I told them.

- I have an idea, follow me.

Raven turned to the library's street and got inside. When I walked in, they were talking to their mom and came back with a key.

- It's just behind the library, we can walk there.

- Where are you bringing me?

- You'll see.

I followed them to a tall door, that they opened for me. It was a church, a wonderful church. The walls were beige and gold, with paintings all over the ceilings. I walked around, amazed.

Raven's POV

While Jade visited, I sat on the bench in the front of the church and started strumming the harp.

- Wait, you play the harp?

- Yeah, I always come here to practice. I'll play a little something for you.

It had actually been a long time since I came here. But getting back to the music felt so calming. I concentrated on every note, closing my eyes and letting the melody dance around. I wasn't used to play for someone, the last time was actually for my dad. Otherwise, I'd just keep it to myself and enjoy the moment alone. I played the last notes, raised my head and opened my eyes. When I turned, Jade wasn't here anymore. I started panicking and whispered to myself.

- Raven why'd you do this, of course you would scare her away. You always have to ruin everything with people. It's your fault.

Jade's POV

Raven was shaking, I never saw them like that. I was right behind them, why were they panicking?

- Raven! Raven I'm right here.

- Why would you do this to me Jade? I -I shouldn't get to know you, it's gonna hurt me.

They started crying so intensely and I tried getting closer to them but they moved back. It scared me seeing them like that.

- Raven what did I do? Just sit down and talk to me.

- NO! Jade, just don't.

They ran away, leaving me alone inside.
