JESSE KLAVER

I couldn't believe Rob!

It was obvious that the guy cheated on him.

And I'm not saying that just because they don't have sex. I'll admit, I stalked them a bit on their social media. The guy looks uncomfortable in some pictures when he's with Rob, but then when he's with some other guy — that I recognized because he works with us — he's always smiling.

Thierry Baudet.

That was the assholes name.

I didn't like him, he's against multiculturalism.

Overall, I think he's up to something with Rob's boyfriend. I don't know if it's an affair or something else. Something is strange.

I thought about that the whole weekend before I decided on a plan, one that would benefit all of us. I'll apologize to Rob, get close to him — hopefully making him like or love me — then get close to his partner and Thierry to discover what're they hiding. Rob and Sjoerd break up, I get with Rob, and for those two I don't care.

Problem solved.

I know it seemed selfish and bad, but I had to convince Rob that guy wasn't good for him. Something was really nagging me the wrong way about him. Even if Rob didn't attract me, if we'd be only friends, I'd do the same.

I entered the conference room, Rob was already in his seat. There weren't many people since it was still early.

"Hey," Rob straight up ignored me. "Listen, I'm sorry for Friday. I was an asshole and rude and everything wrong. I shouldn't tell you that stuff, but I have a weird bad feeling, and it isn't just jealousy. I'd do the same if you're with a woman, I mean, if you aren't gay. Not that I have anything against —"

"I get it!" he burst out into laughter. "Gosh, you were so scared!" I laughed with him, and for the first time in my life, I didn't care the people were watching and judging me. "I'm sorry also, I overreacted a bit. It's been a stressful year."

"Don't worry, it was my fault. Just so you know, I still don't like him and I'll try to make you see it."

"Just so you know, I'll be waiting and laughing at your tries."

"Glad we sorted that out. Now, is there any new information on devolvement?"

"Do you not read the message board? You're like a child."

"I don't have anything to say in my defence except that I was in a hurry to see you."

"Very funny. Mark wants us..." he went on explaining the news to me for some time, answering my questions when I interrupted.

Half an hour later, I knew all of that day's meeting points and was ready to propose my ideas. Another fifteen minutes after — and a lot of thanking from me to Rob for giving me another chance and helping me master the way of working — Mark came to speak.

"... Before we start for real, I'd like to present Jesse Klaver, our new GroenLinks leader, that for some reason left the last conference."

I was surprised at how he picked me out, but quickly stood up and went to the little stage. "Good afternoon, everyone. I'm Jesse Klaver, like Mark here said. I don't have anything ready so I'm not going to hold our time. I'm looking forward to working with you all," short and sweet.

People do tend to not pay attention to longer texts, it's either boring after a while or it's full of the same words, always repeating.

"So you're a short and sweet person. I understand now why you were so quick with me," commented Rob when I sat next to him.

"That sounded dirty."

"Jesse!"
