E3 is very similar to 9S in terms of appearance; white hair and black clothes. What makes him unique, however, is his ways of wearing his outfits, such as wearing no shirt at all and wearing only a jacket.
E3 is also known throughout YoRHa as "Ponytail", thanks to his long hair ties up in a ponytail similar to Ky Kiske's hairstyle in Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator.
Personality
Although it's unknown in NieR Automata what kind of personality executioner androids exactly have, E3 is like a mix of A2 and 2B's personalities; sometimes being a bit aggressive and foul-mouthed like A2 and sometimes being calm and collective like 2B.
He is a very calm and quiet android both in and out of combat, but also has his limits, shown as when he punched 9S because said Scanner Android was being too noisy, making androids like 21O dislike him for his attitude.
The reason for E3's personality was because of witnessing all his friends die while he still lived. Since he was in Guilty Gear, Blazblue, Undernight In-Birth and Brave Frontier, it shouldn't be too much to ask why he is no longer the cheerful and pessimistic Jayden Yūki and now a cold and quiet android.
History (NieR Automata spoilers)
It is unknown when Jayden stumbled upon YoRHa and somehow became an Executioner type of YoRHa android, it is obvious by his code name (E3) that he is a prototype android like A2.
Prototype Androids have the letter first before the number. Example is A2.
The current and newer Androids have the number first before the letter. Example is 2B.
He is the only survivor of the M002 male squad after the mission, and has deserted YoRHa for realizing that he's getting himself trapped in an endless cycle that repeats just like Blazblue. As such, during a certain time, he met A2 and they agreed to look after each other's backs.
When A2 tried to ambush 2B and 9S at the Forest Kingdom, E3 also appeared with her, and he fought 9S. Whilst 2B was victorious against A2, E3 easily won against 9S with superior sword techniques and his immunity to hacking, which therefore makes him immune to the logic virus since he's actually an immortal human.
We don't see E3 until Route C, where 2B goes to the commerical facility (the ruins of a mall) after being corrupted by the logic virus. He silently witnesses the event; A2 killing 2B with 2B's sword and then cutting her hair to match the Battler android, and 9S going from sane to murderous android.
When the player starts to play A2, E3 appears with Pod 042, wearing an outfit similar to Ky Kiske's outfit in Guilty Gear Strive, except he has a ponytail as long as Sol Badguy's. From here, it feels as though you're playing the game just like how you first rebooted it, but there's a catch...
During the whole tower thing, E3 is mysteriously absent. The reasons were left unknown, but it's revealed that he is the only participant in the new ending named "Ending E 3.0". There, he wakes up in various memorable places such as Kanzakai (the place with Undernight In-Birth takes place) and The 13th Hierarchial City of Kagutsuchi (the place where Blazblue takes place) and fighting statues of his friends, such as Hyde and Linne.
When he reaches the Drakengard 3 Route D setting, he finds the dark flower and plots to destroy it, due to the fact that the flower seen in Drakengard 3 on Zero's face is likely a fragment of this black flower, meaning that only a small portion of the real thing is enough to wipe out humanity.
After a grueling battle, E3 uses the Insulator (Hyde's weapon) and Thunderseal (Ky's weapon) to kill the black flower. He looks up, and says that he can finally rest, before falling asleep on his bed in Emil's little residence.
Abilities
As a Prototype YoRHa executioner (and plus his experience due to his long life), E3 is arguably stronger than even A2. He can do all things that a normal android can, such as somehow using his weapon of choice without making contact with it, and throwing said weapon away only for it to respawn back behind him.
Facts
1. E3 is a video game event hosted every year to reward nominated video games in a certain category.
2. He dislikes 2B, but doesn't hate her.
3 : He likes an android named 6A (Number 6 Attacker), a male android that has an identical face and hair to Hyde, albeit the hair color is white instead of blonde.
4. He isn't fond of Devola and Popola, especially Devola. This is because he was in NieR Replicant and helped Nier, Kaine, and Emil to defeat the twins using a ring blade. By this time, he wasn't an android, he identified as a Replicant.

Since he's the only male Executioner, he's been assigned to watch over every scanner to make sure they don't find out about the truth that humanity is extinct and that they're stuck in an endless cycle. He's also known to get in so many wacky adventures with the scanners.
