Set in RTTE S5. Hiccup and Astrid are already dating. What if Hiccup still hasn't given Astrid's betrothal gift during the Sandbuster incident? This happens the day after that.

There are definitely songs here (that I tweaked the lyrics a bit) that you would know. If not, then you might be really young.

Hiccup woke up to a start. Woken up by an excited Nightfury. "H-Hey Toothless, okay okay, good morning to you too bud." Hiccup smiles at his dragon. Toothless grumbles while looking at an item on Hiccup's desk. "Yep, today's the day." Hiccup responds to his dragon.

It was gonna be a good day. No particular reason. Maybe because Hiccup made impressive progress on his wingsuit. Maybe because they didn't get eaten by the sandbuster the day before.

Or maybe because it was gonna be the day Hiccup finally gives Astrid his betrothal gift. The medallion, now with a chain, was Stoick's gift to his beloved. Now, it will be Hiccup's to Astrid.

Toothless nudges Hiccup, wanting him to get out of his hut already. "Okay, okay, don't rush me bud." Hiccup finally moves to get out of his hut.

As Hiccup goes out of his hut, so did a certain blonde get out of her's. Hiccup moves to her, "Good morning m'lady."

"Hm? Hey! Uh, you know what? I have a feeling today's gonna be hectic, soooo I'll just..."Astrid babbles, still trying to avoid Hiccup. She still hasn't gotten him a betrothal gift yet. Seriously, what do you give to the son of the chief, leader of the dragon riders, and the guy who practically invents stuff?

"...I-I actually have somewhere to be-" "N-No you don't." Astrid tries to get away, but Hiccup has noticed her trying to avoid him, but not this time. "I don't?" Astrid replies with a worried expression on her face.

Hiccup smiles at her, laces his hand with her's. He takes her for a walk in the edge. The day seemed perfect. It was quiet. Well, that's probably because none of the gang was there but he's trying not to worry about that right now.

"Isn't this great? No pranks from the twins, no early morning babbling from Snotlout, no incidents of any kind. I'm telling you Astrid, today's gonna be a great day." Hiccup said as he sighed in peace, walking by his betrothed. He finally faced her, "Hey Astrid, I actu-" but he gets cut off.

"WILD SLITHERSONG! FOREST! TWINS SINGING SO BAD!" Fishlegs screamed while flying on Meatlug.

"You were saying something about a peaceful day?" Astrid raised an eyebrow while smirking, thanking Thor inside her head for giving her more time. For Hiccup though, the moment was ruined. So badly ruined.

"Oh come on! Can the gods just give me this one day!?" Hiccup exclaimed waiving his fist to the sky. "Fishlegs! Try to keep the Deathsong in the forest! We'll come after you." Fishlegs nods to Hiccup before flying away.

Astrid chuckled before they ran to their dragons. Stoick, Gobber, Dagur, and Heather are by the stables discussing something.

Heather sees the couple running towards them "Astrid, Hiccup!" She waives to them.
"Wha-Why are all of you he-Nevermind. We need your help." Hiccup's confused, why are they all here? But perhaps that's a good thing. They can help.

"What's the problem, son?" A worried expression shows on Stoick's face.
"We'll explain on the way, for now take these and fly with us." Hiccup hands them all Deathsong plugs.
"Aww Hiccup, you shouldn't have. Really, you shouldn't. T-this is a terrible gift." Dagur smiles then frowns at the plugs.
"They're for your dragons, Dagur." Hiccup explains which earns an 'Oh, wait what?' expression on Dagur's face. Hiccup facepalms.
