The Ex-Wife
Whilst Trip was on his way back to the base with Bobbi and Simmons, Sophie was still in the lab with Fitz. She had put on some shoes and some red lipstick in preparation, just because she knew how much Bobbi would make fun of her if she didn't.
Fitz seemed nervous. He wasn't the excited and happy guy he had been mere minutes before when they were discussing their design.
"It'll be okay, Leo," she murmured to him, "she's your friend."
"She left me."
"She was on assignment," Sophie replied gently, "you can't hold that against her."
"Yes I can," he mumbled, before looking down at his hands, "and...um...there was something else."
"What is it?"
"I, um...before...before...I told her I had feelings for her, and um...she didn't say it back, so...that's a bit..." he swallowed, "awkward."
Sophie tried to bite back the grimace, that did sound very awkward. But it made sense now. She felt sorry for the guy.
Although there was a slight pull at her chest that could only be comparable to jealousy at the thought of Fitz liking someone in that way. She didn't like that she felt that way, and she knew it was incredibly stupid.
She put a hand on his arm, "it'll be okay...and anyway, it's her loss."
Fitz looked surprised at that and looked up at her, his gaze holding for a moment before they got both got distracted by the base doors opening. Simmons walked in, greeting Agents Coulson and May. Behind her was Trip and...Bobbi.
A huge smile grew onto Sophie's face at the sight of her best friend, and she immediately wanted to run to her.
She looked at Fitz, and saw his gaze was fixed on Simmons who had now noticed him too. He stood up.
Simmons approached the lab. Fitz seemed to hold his breathe.
Sophie stood up, looking at him, "breathe, Leo."
He nodded, glancing at her for a second as he let out a breath.
Simmons walked in.
Sophie smiled at her, walking past Fitz, "Agent Simmons, Sophie Bouchard, we 'aven't officially met."
"Yes, um," the woman smiled slightly, "you were...undercover as well, weren't you?"
"And still alive, as are you, so congratulations on that," Sophie joked, before passing her, "nice to meet you."
"Oh, you too!"
Sophie walked out the lab, aware that she would be intruding on a very important moment if she stayed.
She went to the main common area and couldn't help but shriek excitedly at the sight of Bobbi who was hugging Mack. They both pulled away and Bobbi smiled wide, rushing towards Sophie.
"Ma chérie!" Sophie exclaimed as she threw her arms round Bobbi, "Oh, comme tu m'as manqué!"
"I'm so glad you're not dead," Bobbi murmured, squeezing the woman tightly. "I never knew what happened with Bakshi."
"Me? Dead? I am immortal, don't you forget," Sophie, as they pulled away, smiled at Bobbi who just rolled her eyes.
"Bobbi?"
