A Crush
Sophie had been put on bed rest for the last few days, but luckily Simmons had permitted her to stay in her own room and not in the medbay. The medbay smelt of hospitals and it made Sophie uncomfortable.
She was healing fast, the medication and constant care from Simmons was helping with that. But being in the same room all day every day not doing anything physical was driving her mad. She really hated it. She was too much of an active person to stay still for that long.
She sat looking through some of Fitz's designs he had leant to her to keep her occupied whilst he couldn't visit. She yawned, shifting slightly to sit straighter up against the headboard. Squinting at his scrawling handwriting, she found the diagram for the undetectable tracker component to the MPF that she had talked about and smiled at the detail.
There was a knock on her door.
"Come in!" She called.
Coulson walked through the doors.
"Director," she smiled in greeting.
"Agent Bouchard," he pulled a chair to sit beside her, "how are you doing?"
"Apart from immensely bored, I'm fine," she said, making him laugh, "I'm grateful for Simmons, I feel like I'm almost back to normal."
"I'm glad to hear it." He said, "Did she say when you'll be clear for the field again? She hasn't been giving me a straight answer."
"Well she said my progress is looking promising, and she's removing my stitches tomorrow..."
"So, soon?" He raised a brow.
She grinned, holding up her linked fingers, "fingers crossed."
"Good. I also had to talk to you a little about what actually happened when Ward took you, is that okay?"
She nodded.
"Well," he continued, "Bobbi seemed to think that the reason you stayed with Ward and not escaped sooner is because he had leverage on you..."
Sophie looked away. Would this be the day she finally tell SHIELD about her siblings? Something she'd been hiding for their own safety for years?
"If he has something he can use against you, I need to know what it is, Agent Bouchard," Coulson said firmly.
"He won't be able to use it again, Sir," she said, desperately trying to avoid telling him, "I 'ave it all under control."
He just gave her a look, "Agent Bouchard."
She sighed, looking down at her fingers, "Grant 'ad leverage because...he...he knows about my family...Sir."
"Elaborate?"
She continued to look away, "my...Brother and Sister. They're back in France."
"That's..." Coulson frowned, "that's not on your file."
"I know, they were in care for a while and I became a fugitive so the officialness of our sibling-relationship became...skewed," Soohie explained quietly, "and anyway, I kept them from SHIELD because I wanted to protect them."
She looked up and held his gaze. After a moment, he nodded.
"Thank you for telling me," he said. "If there's anything we can do to better their protection let me know, please."
She let out a breath, "thank you, Sir."
"I'm holding a team meeting in half an hour in the common room, Simmons at least gave the all clear for you to come to that, as long as you're seated."
