"You're here?" He asked. His face brightened up. His brows were all raised and his smile was so radiant as if it was about to outshine the sun, glowing like a saint with a halo just behind his head. I must be crazy to think things like this.
"And, you're here?" I told him in a tone that was as sarcastic as possible. I rolled my eyes and quickly twisted the knob so that I could escape his presence. However, this other knob of the head was preventing me by pulling me towards him.
"I can show you around if you want?"
"Uhm, no." I replied.
"Okay. If that's what you want. I'll wait for you here." He told me.
"No need."
"I will. Still."
I turned to open the door of the administration office. I was told to get some stuff here as well as the allotted schedule for me to attend for the rest of my three month long exchange program.
"Hello." I greeted them the moment I stepped foot inside the office. A girl approached me.
"I am from the exchange program."
"Oh, yeah. Van Abellana?" She asked.
"Yes."
"Here's your ID and here's your schedule." She handed me a lot of cards that my hands weren't capable of getting and almost dropped a few of them.
"Since the actual orientation would be happening in the auditorium, and it would be around 10, I suggest you explore the campus so you can familiarize yourself with the whole set-up." She suggested.
"Can I really?" I asked in excitement. I was anticipating the actual campus tour after the orientation but I guess I could make myself familiarize with my new surroundings.
"Of course. You can stroll around in your free time. Have lunch then "
"Thank you so much." I told them and even the guy who was doing something else on his computer turned to look at me and smiled. I greeted him with a quick bow and smiled back at him.
"Thank you again." I did the same to the girl who handed me my identification card along with other papers. Apparently, Auntie did all the paperwork and all I had to do was to attend the orientation and live the next three months in this campus. She made sure that I would not worry a single thing with regards to my stay here.
I closed the door, making as little sound as possible, without a single creak heard or a thud after slamming the wooden door against its frame the moment I stepped out of the room. I heaved out a sigh and was a little nervous but still able to plaster a smile across my face since I was about to experience new things.
"What are you sighing for?" I jolted at the sudden surprise after the familiar voice whispered. His lips were closed by a needle and it sent chills down my spine. I stepped on his foot and slightly lost a balance but quick enough he caught my elbows before I could even hit my head on the door in front of me.
"Don't touch me."
"If I didn't, you might've broken your nose or something." He told me. I picked myself up in my own two feet, regained my balance, and brushed off invisible dust around me as if my little off balance had made me swim in a pool of dust.
"Thank you, then." I told him and started to walk somewhere just to get myself out of the situation. In my opinion, the library would be a great place to hangout. And that would be the best spot for me to look while waiting for the orientation to begin. I guessed other students who were part of the exchange program who happened to be here just like me would be hanging out in either the library or the cafeteria. Maybe, I would be able to bump into one of them if I happened to recognize that they were also trying to get to familiarize themselves with the whole campus.
"Where are you going?" The boy asked. I never knew his name. I thought he already gave me his name last night and I couldn't care less that I completely forgot about it. I did not know. He was annoying and all these things that he was doing was slowly turning my stay here quite a nuisance even though I didn't want it to be.
"Somewhere safe from thieves." I snarled at him, looking at the stolen bracelet wrapped around his wrist. My sister made that with our old charms and bought beads that were back in the Philippines where we bought them from a local sari-sari store in a small spherical plastic container which from a distant view it looks like a crystal ball shining from multi-colored diamonds were in fact it was just cheap plastic beads. I had fun doing those. I wanted to take it back purposefully with so much force that I couldn't care less whether he would break his wrist or something. However, I did not want to destroy the bracelet. I didn't want to destroy something my sister gave me and I cherished every moment we spent together making them to have matching ones.
"I am not a thief." He denied my truth and universally-acknowledged accusation towards him. In fact, it wasn't an accusation at all. Everyone who could hear the story on how he got my bracelet would agree that this guy was a thief.
"I," He paused briefly and placed his fingertips on his chin as he thought of words that might actually be good to describe himself. "I just wanted a trade." He said, matter-of-factly.
"Then, what do you call yourself?"
"Handsome." He quickly blurted out like the words were just waiting on the tip of his tongue to be spoken.
"Tsk. Too much self proclamation here." I scoffed.
"Well, a lot of people had already told me that so I just kind of embodied it. You know?"
I did not utter a response. I think my mouth would turn dry if I talked too much with him. Therefore, I concluded in the back of my head that I would just be spending the next couple of hours wandering around the campus to avoid this nuisance.
"Well, if handsome was not the kind of endearment you want to call me. Then you can call me by my name. My name's Jace." Jace, huh? Well, it was not part of my plan to know the name of the stranger who just stole my bracelet. So in order for me to get out of this conversation, I might need to quickly head out somewhere.
"Where are you going? I can show you around."

I have to admit I suffer from writing blocks that I ended up spending all my free time staring at the ceiling of my room and gave myself a thought on whether I should write this or make another one. Or we could also blame my work as it took most of my time that I should be giving to write here and provide updates. But yeah, I tried to stay motivated with a lot of caffeine and all but your support was a total mood booster. Anyways, I would be trying to finish this story until the end of February or mid-March. I don't know but I can't keep promises. But anyways, I love how you guys support whether you're just a few. Thank you so much for waiting. Hope you can vote, comment and follow me if you like the story. See you on my next update.
