M/N'S POV
After hearing Emma and Norman last night I was really thinking about what they said and it was kind of weird to me. I must have stayed up until at least 3:00am thinking about it trying to put it together. I mean what would you do if you hear your 'siblings' talk about being raised to be food for some monsters and escaping from said monsters.
You would think they were crazy and on some sort of drugs. I mean... Emma did once accidentally drink a bottle of medicine when she was 8 and she was pretty out of it but I doubt she'd do it again... maybe. You can never be too sure with her.
The morning bell already rung and everyone was out of the bedrooms and in the dinning hall running around and talking like always while I on the other hand sat down and observed Emma and Norman. Emma did seem pretty out of it today. Maybe she did drink a bottle of medicine again. But all she was doing was staring blankly at Isabella while she was playing around with some of the littler kids.
Well that was until Norman came in with two of the four year olds giving her a greeting once he sees her. "Good morning, Emma." Emma didn't return the greeting all she did was stare.
Norman walked closer to Emma and said something but I couldn't hear since he was whispering.
'so emma is still uneasy,' I thought and then smirked 'i guess i'll just have to ask her then.'
After doing our usual test Norman and Emma went off somewhere so I never got the chance to ask her. Actually I haven't seen the both of them since then. It's annoying how they just disappeared. How in the hell did they just disappear like they were never here.
While all the other kids minus Ray who was doing whatever the fuck he wanted, we're playing outside Isabella rang a bell signaling that the time for playing was over. All the kids who were playing before ran over to her while I on the other hand am not one for wasting energy—despite my high stamina— decided to walk. By the time the little children were there Gilda started counting them all. When Gilda was halfway through counting Emma and Norman had arrived doubled over panting like they just ran and finished a race.
"Huh? Two kids are missing." Gilda announced. Right after that was said a kids scream could be heard.
"Mama!" Mark yelled out running over to Mama. It sounds like he might have been crying from the way he's whining right now.
"Mark!" Isabella said crouching down to his height. Mark on the other hand had his hands on his knees panting much like Norman and Emma. "Did something happen?" Isabella asked the the child.
Once he caught his breath he looked up at Isabella showing his face as tears were brimming his eyes "What should I do? I got separated from Naila in the forest! I tried looking, but I couldn't find her!" While Mark was crying Isabella took out her pocket watch. As she was busy looking at it I went next to Thoma who was right behind her but was to busy looking at the crying child to notice me look over her shoulder to look at her pocket watch. To my surprise but not really wasn't actually a watch at all.
Inside it had all these dots on it as if it were a tracker of some sort. "It'll be okay" Isabella said snapping me out of my thoughts. She got up from her crouching position in front of Mark and before she could turn around I stepped back a few feet. "Everyone, stay here." Isabella demanded of us as she turned around to look at us all. "Understood?" She then asked but didn't wait for a response before she left to find Naila.
Everyone watched her as she walked off into the forest. "Sorry." The once crying child muttered as Isabella went deeper into the forest until we couldn't see her anymore.
As we wait all the children—and as in children I just mean everyone including me—waited together crowded in one spot near the tree closest to the house. It was quiet until Phil made a noise of excitement as he point into the distance. Looking where Phil was pointing we could see our caretaker carrying a sleeping Naila.
While Isabella was still walking forward everyone except Norman, Emma, and I ran over to her. Phil being the first to reach her while Mark was the next quick to check on Naila. Isabella stopped as the rest of the kids got to her. "She got tired and fell asleep. Look, not a scratch on her." Isabella had reassured.
"Thank goodness!" Mark yelled out. As he did the other kids started to laugh "I'm so sorry, Naila. I'm sorry!" He kept apologizing as if she was gonna hear him.
It sounded like Norman and Emma were talking to each other but I was too far to hear them as I was closer to the other kids than I was to the two of them. As Isabella passed and the other kids not far behind her passed me I looked back to see them now passing two out of the three oldest kids, a large smile adorning their face but it looked rather forced and unnatural.
I sigh as I turn back and face up towards the dark clouds as lightning strikes in the distance.
I was making my way to the top of the staircase to go down stairs since I wanted to see if dinner was almost done. As I'm making my way there Isabella is in the hallway. I was just gonna pass her but she stopped me by putting a hand on my shoulder.
"Hey, m/n." Isabella said looking down at me with a smile.
"yes Isabella, do you need anything?" I asked with my ever so monotonous voice not bothering to spare her a glance.
She was quiet for a moment but then got in front of me, her hand never leaving my shoulder. "I just wanted to know if you perhaps went to the gate last night." The caretakers smile never faltering once as her grip on my shoulder gets a bit tighter.
I finally look up at her with my e/c half lifted eyes, my apathetic expression never leaving once. "why would I do that? i don't have any business out there in the first place, and didn't you tell us not to go over there? who am i to question it." I replied looking right into her eyes. She took her hand off of my shoulder but it didn't look like she was satisfied with my answer though.
"Well, do you know if any of your siblings went out?" She questioned.
'The way she's questioning is making it seem as if Emma and Norman's thing about demons is actually true.' I said to myself.
"first off please refrain from calling them my siblings we aren't related we merely live together." I said putting up my hand and putting up my index finger. "and second," I said as I put my middle finger up with my index to make two. "i don't know if anyone went to the gate last night since i was in the library." After explaining I put my hand down. Isabella seemed to be satisfied by the answer I gave.
"Okay then you can go back to what you were doing than." Isabella said looking down at me with a smile plastered across her face. Before I can say anything else she walks away from me.
'That was suspicious. I guess that it's better not to snitch on Emma and Norman. For now.' I thought then made my way downstairs passing Ray on the way.
