Short chapter
3RD POV
The children were playing outside some dancing with each other and some sitting and watching them without a care in the world. Ray who stood by the house took a photo of it. A few moments passed of him watching the children before Emma, Norman, m/n, Don, and Gilda came with buckets in hand.
Ray turned to look at the five. "Let's go over the plan," Norman said and Ray followed the five of them to the black well. Once there, they put their buckets down and stood by the wall near it.
"When we start free time after lunch, I'll distract Mama," Ray said leaning on the wall of the house. "Norman and Emma will climb the wall to inspect the vicinity." He turned to look at two of the three ten-year-olds. "Don and Gilda, stay outside the south window on the House's second floor. Just in case I fail to distract Mama, I'll signal you."
"Let Emma and Norman know to cancel the inspection immediately. M/n, you'll serve as a second distraction in that case so Don and Gilda will have time to get to them. We have six days left until our planned escape, we have two and a half months until it's time for me to be shipped out. So, if something happens, immediately cancel the inspection. Everything needs to be done secretly. We need to pretend to be controllable." Ray explained.
Don and Gilda nodded their heads in confirmation. "Don!" A child's voice yelled. Looking at where the voice came from a group of children waved getting the brown-skinned males' attention. "Play with us!" The boy who yelled said.
"Gilda, you too!" A little blonde girl yelled.
"All right! Ready for some tag?" Don yelled as he and Gilda ran over to the group of little kids.
Distant laughing was heard. "Ray, can we talk?" Norman asked. Beside him was Emma who looked downcast. Ray nodded so the three older kids started to make their way back into the house. Norman stopped and looked back seeing m/n still standing there. "M/n, you should come too." Norman gestures for the younger boy to follow them. M/n doesn't speak he only nodded and walked with the three.
"What?!" Ray yelled from inside one of the shared bedrooms. "Sister found out that we can break the tracking devices?" He asked just to make sure.
Both Emma and Norman nodded their heads. "So I want to move up the escape day. When can you break the tracking devices?" Norman asked and Ray stiffened slightly.
He looked to his side the let's out a sigh. He opens a drawer and shuffles through it before taking out a camera and taking a picture of the two in front of him. The two flinch and squint their eyes at the sudden bright light that came from the device. Emma puts her arm over her eyes overreacting quite a bit.
Norman laughs at the girls' reaction. "What was that?" Emma practically shouted.
Ray took the picture out of the camera and held the camera toward the two. "With this, I have all the necessary parts." M/n who was sitting on the edge of the bed the three were standing between took the camera and examined it. "I can break them anytime now," Ray informed as he looked at the picture he took of Emma and Norman.
Ray smiled and let out a small laugh as the photo became clear. Emma noticed and went to his side and looked at the photo herself. "Look at your weird faces."
"That's mean!" Emma said furrowing her eyebrows at Ray's statement.
"This is really a double-edged sword," Norman said as he looked at the camera that was in m/n's hands. "Will we break the tracking devices and escape first? Or will Sister find this evidence first and turn us in before that?"
Ray once again let out a sigh before speaking. "Don't worry. I've taken care of it." The raven-haired boy smirked.
Without warning, there was a bright flash that caused Ray to flinch back and squint his eyes. The boy rubbed his eyes and then looked at m/n who was holding the camera looking at it with amazement in his eyes. "ah, so that's how it works." M/n spoke as he took the photo out of the camera and shoved the device into Ray's hands.
"You know you didn't need to do that." Ray scolds as he furrowed his eyebrows. M/n shrugged as he examined the photo.
"i don't see anything wrong with what i did." The photo of Ray had finally shown up and m/n's eyes seemed to sparkle and widen slightly in amazement. If you examined his face you could even see a small tug of his lips upwards. M/n stood up from the bed and handed Ray the photo of himself. "we should go back outside now it'll be suspicious if we don't."
Both Emma and Norman nodded and began to make their way out with m/n following behind Ray made no effort to move yet. As soon as Emma and Norman left the room and m/n was in the doorway, just before the h/c-haired boy could leave Ray called out to him. "Hey, m/n."
M/n stopped in the doorway and turned to Ray and was greeted with a flash of white light. He immediately closed his eyes due to the blinding light. Ray smiled seeing the boys' reaction even letting out a chuckle. "Would you look at that? Even you can react to stuff like this."
"of course i can, i'm not a robot contrary to everyone else's belief." M/n out of his daze rolled his eyes at Ray's sarcasm. The boy left leaving Ray inside of the bedroom to put his camera away.
