Being a dad of two girls is something else. We are always busy in the Ryan household.
Not much sleep to be had either but between Navy and I but we balance and then sometimes April will watch them both so we can just sleep.
I have been secretly working on her dad's bike and I almost have it done and when I do I'm taking Navy out on a date.
Navy has no idea how close I am to having it done. I want to finish it but also it's where I come to terms with how Morgan will never meet his niece and be the fun uncle.
I tighten another bolt and smile thinking how happy he would be to know dad isn't alone and that he loves being a grandpa.
My mind may be playing tricks on me but I thought I saw him and Brenda getting a little close.
Lanie comes running out to the garage where I was and jumped on my leg.
"What are you doing out here bug?"
She smiles at me and stuck her finger in her mouth. "Daddy help!"
"Lanie!" Navy hollered.
"She's in the garage with me," I said.
"I'm glad the garage is connected to the house or we may be in trouble. I changed her diaper and she took off then Morgan began crying so I couldn't catch her." She laughed.
"She's ok out here with me. She can hand me bolts." I said.
"Yeah, mama." Lanie grinned.
"You are a stinker. Do what daddy says ok?" Navy said.
"Ok, mama." Lanie smiles.
"I'm going to feed Morgan and get her back to sleep and then I'll come to get her," Navy said.
"She's fine babe," I said.
Morgan was screaming when Navy walked off with her. I shook my head and looked down at Lanie. "I want you to hold these and don't lose them ok bug?"
"Okie daddy." Lanie smiled holding the bolts so tight in her little fingers.
I sit down on the concrete to tighten a difficult bolt and Lanie sits between my legs holding a bolt up in my face.
This isn't going to work too well I don't believe. I tightened the last couple of bolts and used the two I gave her.
"Are you hungry bug?" I ask.
"Cookie daddy pease?" She said.
I laugh... "You have a sweet tooth like your momma I see. Come on let's go get something."
I lay my tools down and pick her up and head into the kitchen to find some food. I put her in the high chair and she squirmed around until I joined her at the table. I made her a sandwich and then give her bites of cookies when Navy came down.
"Just what are you two doing?" She smiled.
"Cookie mama!" Lanie giggled.
"Bug! You weren't supposed to tell her." I laugh.
"Sorry, daddy!" She giggled.
"If you give me a bite I won't be mad." Navy laughed.
I watch Navy lean down and Lanie fed her a bite of cookie. I couldn't help but laugh.
"Do you want me to make you a sandwich Navy?" I ask.
"No, I can do it you just enjoy your sandwich." She smiled.
I watched her make her sandwich and damn she's beautiful and I'm so glad she walked into that meeting and into my life.
Losing Gavin for her was such a sad thing that happened but I do think he brought Navy to me. I thank him for that and for this beautiful little girl who is looking up at me with her bright blue eyes.
"Daddy." Lanie banged on the high chair top.
"What bug what do you want?" I asked.
"O's." She said.
"You want cheerios?" I ask
"Yes, pease."
I got up and grabbed the box and kissed the side of Navy's face as I walked back by.
It wasn't long until Navy joined us at the table.
"Mama chip," Lanie said.
I couldn't help but laugh. She surprised us daily with how much she can say now.
"Navy did you notice how cozy my dad and Brenda were?"
"I did notice that. Do you think they are hooking up?" Navy asks.
I laugh... "I'm not sure but it's amusing to me. I've never seen my dad with anyone."
"Well, Brenda was always good to me until Gavin died but I'm happy she's coming back around, and well why not?" Navy smiled.
"I'd like to take you right here on this table if Lanie wasn't sitting here," I smirk.
"Kash you know I can go anytime so don't tease me like that." She giggles.
"Daddy swim!" Lanie yells.
"Well, there goes that," Navy said.
"I'll make it up to you later," I said walking over to pick up Lanie out of her chair.
"Why don't we go outside and play in your sandbox while your food settles bug?"
"Ok, daddy." She smiles.
"I'm going to clean up this mess and then I'll be out," Navy said wiping the table off.
I put sunscreen on Lanie and we sit down in her play area and I watch her in the sun digging her shovel in the sand.
I get down on the ground with her and try to help her build a sandcastle with her but she starts to cry.
"What's wrong Lanie bug?"
"Swim daddy!" She kicks her feet in the sand.
"No not if you're going to throw a fit you can't swim," I said.
Navy walks outside at that moment. "What's the matter?"
"She's throwing a fit kicking in the sand wanting to swim. I told her we don't reward bad behavior." I said.
"Lanie you have to be a good girl if you want to swim," Navy said.
"I sorry pease me swim mama." Lanie smiles.
"That's better! Now tell daddy your sorry for throwing a fit." Navy smiled.
"Sorry, daddy...I wuv you." She smiled.
"Well, that was enough for me let's go swim. She always breaks me." I laugh picking her up carrying her over to the pool.
