"Hey Kids!" Shiro greeted as he walked into Demon Pharmaceuticals. "We've got a summons from the Director. Yukio and I both have keys, so helpfully we'll be able to get all of you there with those." He informed them.

Everyone gathered in Mephisto's office, where he sat at his nice cherrywood desk.

"Wow! You really are quite good at dramatics, Sir Pheles!" A cheerful voice exclaimed. A scraggly- looking man stepped out of the shadows of the office. Hm. So that was what Rin had been smelling. She'd thought it was a rat that died inside the wall in the middle of summer. Turns out it was just this weird mess of a man.

He wore an explorer's hat, cargo pants, combat boots, and a dark shirt. His hair was overlong and messy, hiding his eyes under the hat, and he had a week's worth of scruff on his face. He looked like an alcoholic explorer, basically.

"Hey there! I'm Lewin Light, Arc Knight. I'm from the American Branch! I'm usually called Lightning though." The man introduced himself.

"Light?!" Izumo repeated at the same time Suguro noted, "Lightning?!"

"Oh good, somebody knows him. Who is this guy?" Rin asked them.

"He’s The Paladin’s right-hand man and the Order's Torturer." Izumo answered.

"He’s an expert in chants,  summoning, and he's known worldwide for his work." Suguro added. He seemed excited by this development and Rin raised an eyebrow, but didn't push for anymore information. She'd grill her boyfriend on his crush later.

"Okay, then. What are ya here for, Light?" She turned back to the man.

"Rin!" Her brother and her boyfriend both scolded. She ignored them, keeping her eyes on the man who smelled like a dead animal mixed with the city dump. If she had to deal with his scent practically murdering her sense of smell, she didn't have to give fake smiles and be nice. And part of the deal with the Grigori was that she wouldn't need to bow down to anyone. She'd be high in their ranks soon enough anyway.

"Woah! Are you Rin Okumura, the daughter of Satan?!" He asked energetically, like a kid on Christmas.

"'Scuse me?" She asked. He got uncomfortably close to her and she leaned away. His stench was bad enough across the office. Up close, she wanted to grab a can of air freshener and spray it all over him and in his mouth for good measure.

"You're the daughter rod Satan, aren't you?" Light repeated.

Rin sighed. "Unfortunately."
She heard Mephisto snicker at her response and threw him a glare.

"And what are you laughin' at, Lady Gaga?" She hissed. Mephisto's face displayed a rare moment of surprise and insult and she wished she had a camera.

"Wow, she really isn't scared of anything." Lightning mused, examining her like she was a fine piece of meat. Which, she was, but this guy looked over her more like he could find out her secrets if he looked hard enough.

"I’ve always wanted to meet you! I figured there was no way they managed to kill you after you literally grilled the last Paladin with no effort as a newborn baby, but ever since I heard about the whole scandal with you being raised in secret, I've been dying to meet you!" Rin had no idea she had fans, but now she wished she didn't. Lightning seemed weirdly obsessive.

Every time she moved back, he moved forward. Rin was about to just toss the guy out the window(without opening it)when Shiro stepped in and pulled Lightning away. At the same time, Mephisto had grabbed Rin and pulled her back as well. She hadn't even noticed the low growl building in her chest until then.
