When Ryuji called her to ask if she was free to go on a date, Rin dropped what she was doing immediately to get ready(she'd been doing homework, but fuck school, she'd never wanted to go anyways).

She put on something simple, but not too plain because it was a date with her boyfriend, not just hanging out with friends. Furthermore, they hadn't gone on a date in a month. Yikes.

She threw on a jacket–the cool one Mephisto gave her when Shura was about to interrogate her–and made sure her phone was charged, she had her keys, she had a scarf, she left a note for Yukio on his desk in his room in case he got back from work at a decent time for once and wondered where she was, etc. She was almost shaking, she was so excited.

She'd missed her boyfriend. Although, she knew that she missed him more as a friend than anything by now. Maybe their relationship was just too new and then got tested too early for them to last said test, whose name was Lightning and smelled like garbage and dead house pets, and had no manners whatsoever. Maybe she should just chill with trying to date anyone and be happy she just had friends.

Their date was nice and she enjoyed it, but something was off the whole time. To be specific, Ryuji was off the whole time. He was happy to see her, but there was a weird sort of hesitance about him when he interacted with her. Almost like he was nervous over something having to do with her. But they hadn't really seen much of each other in a good while? Maybe he was realizing their relationship wasn't meant to last too and he was nervous about dumping her?

Rin started wondering if she should just try to get them to a mutual agreement to break up now instead of waiting if he was this nervous about it.

It would really suck if he actually tried to avoid her on top of already not making any time for her. She'd probably cry, and then her friends would ask why, and she'd tell them, and then Izumo and Shima would probably find Ryuji and beat him up, and Shiemi would probably tell Yukio, and he'd come back from whatever mission he was on and pull his guns on her soon-to-be ex boyfriend and Jesus Christ she couldn't let that happen!

Just as she was about to bring up the topic, Ryuji checked his phone, frowned, and gave her an apologetic look. She already knew what he was going to say and tried to keep the disappointment from showing on her face. Though, from his wince when he looked at her, she wasn't doing a very good job of it.

Maybe she didn't have a right to be that annoyed since she was about to dump him, but God this shit was getting real fuckin old.

"It's fine, I can get home by myself, just go." She told him flatly. At this point, she wanted him to leave before she decked him. He nodded and actually fucking left her there at the restaurant. Without paying the bill.

Rin's eye twitched and she closed her eyes, breathing in deeply to try to calm herself before she flipped the table with their food and drinks still on it.

The waiter that had been tending to them came over, took one look at the scene–a pissed off girl, an empty seat across from her where her boyfriend had been, and half eaten food in front of both seats with no money on the table to handle the bill from the guy–and frowned.

He cleared his throat. "Miss, would you like me to clear his meal away for you?" He asked gently.

She sighed. "No, I'll eat his too. I need something to stress eat." She said hollowly. He winced.

"How about I pay his portion and you only pay for your meal? And because it's messed up to leave you here like he just did, I'll add a slice of cheesecake free of charge for you to eat instead of his meal? You deserve better than his leftovers." He suggested. They were a well-off business, they could afford the small loss.
