Be Careful
I walked to class with my hat pulled down over my ears and my scarf wrapped around my neck twice. It is so cold today. I couldn’t even believe it. The worst part is that I have to walk in this horrid weather.
I check my phone to see what time it is.
7:22am
I have 8 minutes to get to school and I’m still about 4 blocks away. I decide to speed up my pace a bit, so I won’t be late.
I keep checking my phone. I really hate being late. It stresses me out. As I check my phone for about the hundredth time, I step onto a patch of slippery ice. I slide a bit, but catch my balance. I need to watch out for more ice. I don’t want to waste anymore time.
I feel myself speeding up even more. Shoot! I’m gonna be late. My legs speed up into a jog. Then before I know it, I’m running.
My bag on my arm is flying all over. My hat almost falls off my head. Luckily I catch it before it does, but at that exact same moment my foot steps onto a slick piece of ice. I glide a little then I lose my balance. I know I’m gonna fall, so I brace myself to hit cold, hard cement. I squeeze my eyes, as everything seems to go in slow motion.
Instead of cold, hard cement, I feel two warm arms wrap around my torso, keeping me from falling. I regain my balance and get to my feet. The two arms still hold me though. I turn around, the arms holding my waist. My head tilts up to see who was holding me. My eyes instantly widen as I see who stands in front of me, holding my waist.
Thomas Brodie Sangster.
Oh my God! I’ve had a huge crush on him since I met him, which was way back when we went to elementary school together. Then he became famous and stopped going to public school. I missed him like crazy, but now, here he is, holding me. I feel a smirk crawl onto my face as I stare into his perfect brown eyes.
“Woah! Are you okay? You’ve gotta be more careful…” Thomas begins. I don’t think he remembers me. Then I see a spark in his eye, like it just clicked. “(Y/N)! How have you been?” Thomas asks excitedly. He seems excited to see me.
“Good. How about you,” I respond.
“Never been better,” Thomas says, his lips curling into a smile at the corner of his mouth. Wow, that’s so adorable.
“That’s good,” I say. “What have you been up to?” I ask. Man that was a dumb thing to say. I’m pretty sure every teenage girl on Earth knows what he’s been up to. The Scorch Trials.
“Oh, umm… I just finished the Scorch Trials and now I’m doing some Winnet stuff. There’s also a couple of other shows I’m doing,” Thomas says. I realize he still has his hands on my hips. I glance down at them and then I blush. I look back up at Thomas and he must realize this too because he blushes and hurriedly pulls them away. Then he rubs the back of his neck nervously. “So, what have you been up to?” Thomas asks, trying his best to change the subject.
“Oh, nothing much. School. Job. That’s pretty much it,” I say. I can’t help, but notice Thomas keeps glancing from my eyes down to my lips.
“That’s cool,” Thomas says, awkwardly. There’s a long silence then I finally speak up.
“Thomas are you okay?” I ask. I haven’t seen him since he was like 15, but I can tell when people are acting plain old weird.
“No,” Thomas says, kind of under his breath. He takes a deep breath and waits for a second before speaking again. “I need to tell you something… Very important…” Thomas says. He looks kind of nervous. He wipes his hands on his jeans then grabs my hand, leading me to a bench. We sit and he takes my other hand in his.
“Thomas is everything… Okay…” I ask after a long silence of Thomas just staring at our intertwined hands.
“(Y/N), I haven’t stopped thinking about you since I left school. You’ve always been on my mind… I think I love you…” Thomas confesses, looking up, into my eyes. A smile finds its way onto my face. Then I lean into his cold, chapped lips.
