This is my first book, so sorry if it isn't the best. But please read all of it! I would really appreciate it! Please give feedback, and if you have any advice, I would much appreciate it! And if I use songs they are most likely written by Sabrina Carpenter. I absolutely love her music. And of course I don't own any of her music or anybody else's music that I may put in my books.

UPDATE: I'm sorry in advance for grammatical errors, punctuation mistakes, and typos. This was my first book and I was learning as I go. I know that the first part of this book isn't as good, but I promise that it gets better. And there is also another book in this series that is almost finished. And it's way better than this book. So, please continue to read this book and I hope that you enjoy it!. Don't forget to vote, comment, and spread the word!

Melissa's pov

I kissed my parents goodbye before I ran up to the train. I walked up the steps, lugging my baggage with me. I walked to the very front seat and pulled the overhead lever to open up the overhead compartment. It took me a little bit to fit both suitcases in there, but I eventually was successful. I closed the door and replaced the latch to make the door stay closed. I sat down heavily with a long sigh.

I let my mind wander and started daydreaming about Brooklyn. I was ecstatic! I was leaving home and heading towards Brooklyn, the second largest borough in New York! I was scared and happy at the same time. I didn't where my life would lead, or what God had in store for me, but I was ready all the same.

I was startled out of my thoughts as the train lurched, sputtering and wheels screeching horribly. I placed my hands over my ears, and closed my eyes, trying to block out the noise. The train gave a big jerk, then the rhythmic sound of the wheels turning smoothly filled my ears. I leaned out the window, waving and blowing kisses to my family. I felt a few tears fall down my face, and I could see my mom blowing her nose. "Bye! Love you! I promise to write to you!", I said with a smile. "You better!", my dad yelled with a grin.

I sighed in relief and took in my surroundings. The train was sparsely occupied, with only a few small families, some bachelors, and a few young women like me. I felt the boredom come on, and I looked out the window for a few minutes.

With that not entertaining me, I closed my eyes and willed myself to sleep, dreaming about Brooklyn.

3 hours later

There was a sudden jerk, and my eyes flew open and I sat up with a start. The train let out a long sigh of steam and slowly stopped in front of a train station. I poked my head out the window and read a sign that said, ' Brooklyn New York Train Station '. I squealed with excitement and pulled the lever that opened a small compartment overhead that contained my two suitcases, and a handbag that held my makeup, my hairbrush, and the $1000 my parents gave me to give me a head start.

I grabbed my stuff and slowly made it to the exit ramp. Thankfully, there was a man who helped with the luggage. He looked me up and down, and smiled, "Looks like you could use help there ma'am.".

I grimaced, "Yes, that would be very nice indeed.". He stepped up the ramp and grabbed my two suitcases. "So, what brought you to Brooklyn?", the man asked. I ignored him for a second and took a deep breath of the city air. It smelled like factories, fresh food from the market, and smelled slightly mildewed. But all the same, it smelled wonderful compared to my parents' farm that reeked of manure, and stinky farm animals.

I wrinkled my nose just thinking about it. I was brought back from my thoughts once again by a distinct clearing of a throat. The man looked irritated, and I remembered that he had asked me a question.
