❝I don't think I could've watched you get hurt.❞

Y/N did not go to the Great Hall for dinner that night. The news about her and Harry's shouting match with Umbridge and the story about her werewolf powers had travelled exceptionally fast even by Hogwarts' standards. She heard whispers and stares all around her.
The funny thing was, they weren't trying to be quiet. On the contrary: they were whispering loud enough for her to hear, so that they could witness her werewolf ability firsthand.
So she decided to skip dinner and went straight back to the Gryffindor common room to get on with her Potions homework. She took her favorite seat near the fireplace and pulled out some parchment and quill but she couldn't concentrate. Umbridge's words kept running through her head.
"Cedric Diggory's death was a tragic accident!"
"Accident. . ." Y/N grumbled under her breath, crunching up a piece of parchment and throwing it angrily into the fire.
She pulled out the letter she'd started to write for Cedric and stared at it. She dipped her quill in the ink and started to write more.
Dear Ceddy,
Come back, you fucking moron. I am going to kill you for leaving me alone in this place. Guess what happened in just two days, you're not going to believe this. . .
She spent the next thirty minutes writing the letter, telling him all the 'tea' as Dean called it. The portrait hole suddenly opened and Y/N saw Harry, Ron, and Hermione walk in. They made a straight beeline towards her and took the seats near her.
"You didn't come down for dinner," said Hermione, placing a small tissue-covered apple pie on Y/N's table. "So I brought you this."
"Thanks," said Y/N, feeling immensely grateful for her best friend.
"So. . . everyone knows about your abilities now," said Harry quietly.
"I really don't care," said Y/N, taking a bite of the apple pie. "Did you hear what she called uncle Moony? And how she was so set on the lie that my brother's death was an accident? I don't regret what I did and if she mentions either of them next time, I will not hesitate to throw a fucking table at her."
Harry, Ron, and Hermione exchanged slightly terrified looks because they all knew that Y/N was the kind of person who'd actually do it.
"How can Dumbledore have let this happen?" Hermione cried suddenly, making Harry and Ron jump. "How can he let that terrible woman teach us? And in our O.W.L. year, too!"
"Well, we've never had great Defence Against the Dark Arts teachers, have we?" said Harry. "You know what it's like, Hagrid told us, nobody wants the job; they say it's jinxed."
