Chapter 10

"Look Mommy!" Zion exclaimed as he tilted his head back and opened his mouth; catching the snowflake in his mouth. Smiling, Zion skipped to catch up with his mother. "I've never saw snow come from heaven."

"You've never seen. Not saw Zi."

"I've never SEEN," Zion emphasized dramatically causing Melissa to playfully nudge him. Zion giggled before continuing, "snow come from heaven."

"Yes you have. You just don't remember it." Melissa responded as they finally finished the short walk from the jet to the town car.

Zion clicked his tongue while climbing into the car. "Mama, I would remember." He replied in a serious big boy tone while Melissa strapped him into the booster seat.

"I have video proof." Melissa said cockily with a smile on her face.

"Prove it." Melissa put her seatbelt on before reaching in her back pocket for her phone. She went to the album titled Winter Memories and scrolled all the way up to the short video she had in mind. She finally found the short video and hit play.

"That's you, Zion." Melissa said pointing to the 5 month old in the video. Her heart strings tightened as she watched a young Zion catch a snowflake in his little hand before scrunching his face and wiping the wetness on Zach's shirt. It didn't stop him from extending his little hand out again to catch another.

Her eyes left Zion and wandered up to Zachary. She remembered the well kept beard he'd sported his senior year of college up until their 3rd year of marriage. She'd missed the times where they could stay up all night laughing, crying, or just talking together about whatever crossed their mind. She missed him. Not the Zachary that she'd gotten used to over the last two years, but the Zachary she married.

"Why can't I remember this Mommy?" Zion questioned shooting Melissa back into reality. She lowered the already dimmed phone.

"Because you were so young Zi. Want me to tell you a secret?" She watched Zion's eyes widen at the idea of being told confidential information and soon a nod followed. "You're still going to forget your memories until you're about six years old."

Melissa tried her hardest to hold back her chuckle at the terrified look Zion gave her. She'd admit her son could be extremely animated and loved his facial expressions.

"Mamaaa, I'm not going to remember being 5?" Melissa shook her head slowly.

"Only the important stuff." When the horrified look remained in place Melissa let out a small chuckle. "Don't worry, I promise you that I'll take a lot of pictures to help you remember."

"Thank you Mama." Zion stated relieved and released the breath he'd been holding just as her phone started to ring.

"Hey Zach," Melissa stated shortly after picking up the phone.

"Hello Lissa, just checking to see if you made it safely."

"Is that Daddy?" Zion asked just as Zach replied.

Melissa nodded to Zion as she replied to Zach. "We just made it out of Seattle."

"I want to see my Daddy, please Mama?" Zion pleaded causing Zach to chuckle on the other line.

"Only because you said please." Melissa responded as she hit the option to turn the phone call into a video call. She handed Zion the phone after he insisted on holding it himself.

"Hi Daddy! I miss you."

"I miss you too little man. Are you watching after your brother and your mother?" Zion nodded before responding. She was thankful for the mental break from Zion and finally able to give in to her thoughts.
