"Hmmm."
"Hm?"
Katsuki circled me. "It should be tightened here, and-" Katsuki started talking about the last-minute adjustments that should be made to your dress for the ball.
"I didn't know you knew so much about dressmaking," You said with a chuckle.
"Shut the hell up."
You laughed.
"Quit joking around! You've gotta be ready soon!"
"I think the dress is fine."
"No! Now shut the fuck up and hand me the damn needle and thread!"
Finally, the moment everyone has been waiting for. Rumors that Shoto would finally be choosing a bride spread throughout the kingdom. The ballroom was filled with noblemen from allied countries. All of the women showed up one by one, their gowns all beautiful, and unique to their own styles. You wore a strapless, royal blue gown that hugged your chest and upper abdomen and flared out to a long, puffy skirt,
"The prince is finally getting married!" One woman exclaimed. "I bet the wedding would be so beautiful,"
"Now he can finally act like a king, worthy of the throne, and end this war," A man said,
"Now, Presenting, King Shoto Todoroki!" Shoto walked down the large stairway in his princely attire, which was blue as well.
"Looks like you two matched," Katsuki said with a snicker.
"Hush you!" You hissed at him. "It's just a coincidence."
After he greeted many of the guests, Shoto walked over to you. "You look beautiful," he said. You whipped your head around in complete surprise. "You scared the hell outta me," you muttered. "Oh, uh- thank you, you look great too."
He smiled. "I have a small request."
"Sure," you said.
Shoto slipped off his ring, which had the Todoroki crest on it. "Would you wear my ring?"
"Shouldn't you be wearing it?"
"I have to shake a lot of people's hands tonight. It'd be a shame if someone ended up stealing it," he said as he gently grabbed your hand and slipped his ring onto your thumb. "I know nothing will happen to it if it's in your possession."
A light blush spread across your cheeks. "A-alright," you said.
You spent the rest of the ball wearing his ring, and mostly hanging around Katsuki. At one point, Momo came to greet you, but besides that, it was just you and Katsuki.
Near the end of the ball, all of the women that Shoto had to choose from gathered together. "I think he's finally gonna pick," Katsuki said before he pushed you away. "Now go so this shitty ball can be over with."
"Don't push me," you said before you walked away.
"I know I'm going to get picked," one girl said with the flip of her hair. "I'm the prettiest, richest, and Shoto has spent the most time with me."
"No, I'm definitely gonna get picked. The King wouldn't want a brat like you to be his queen," another woman said,
"Ladies," Shoto finally said. The room slowly began to quiet down, the only sound being the quiet-ish whispers from a few people. "I just want to say, it was a pleasure meeting you all. Those of you who will be going home today will be escorted by your guards after the ball. You can keep the gowns if you want." Shoto cleared his throat awkwardly.
You fidgeted with his ring, which was still on your thumb. You felt as though all eyes were on you, but it was only Fuyumi and Katsuki. Fuyumi smiled once you made eye contact as if she just knew you were the one. Hell, if Shoto doesn't marry you, she just might.
Shoto walked over to you and grabbed your hand, shaking you out of your trance. "Thank you for holding my ring," he said. You nodded. "Sure, it was no trouble at all."
"You may not know this, but, men of royalty usually give their ring to the woman they plan on marrying. It's sort of a tradition," he said.
It felt like your heart, literally, swelled. "Is that so," you croaked out.
"I don't think I've ever connected with someone in the same way I connect with you. I truly enjoy your company, and I think you're an amazing person. You're kind, smart, funny, and beautiful." Shoto took a pause and all of the women gasped. "So, will you marry me, _____?"
"Sure- I mean-" you cleared your throat. "Yes," you said with a nod.
Shoto smiled.
"What?!"
"This isn't fair!"
"Why her?!"
"I apologize for the hassle," Shoto said. "But the heart wants what it wants."
"I can't believe this," that same woman from yesterday said. "There's nothing queen material about her! She's a psycho! She's violent and rude-"
"Shut the hell up," you said. "Before I punch you again."
"She just threatened me again! You really wanna make someone like that your queen?!"
"Yes," Shoto said.
"I wouldn't allow my brother to marry a brat like you anyway," Fuyumi said.
The lady scoffed. "I'll tell my daddy about this!"
"That isn't as threatening as you think it is," Momo said. "Congratulations, you two."
You smiled.
~~~~Later that night~~~~~~~~~
You sat in the library, reading to Katsuki when it finally hit you.
"Holy shit," you muttered. "I'm gonna be queen!?"
"Duh, dumbass," Katsuki said. "Now keep going."
