"Miss? Miss Dupain-Chan?"

"Huh?" Marinette asked as she woke to the sound of a nurse's voice.

"Good morning." The nurse smiled at her as Marinette quickly jumped up.

Last night, Marinette had pulled up a chair to sit with Adrien while he fell asleep, but only minutes later, Marinette drifted off as well.

"I-im so sorry I can l-leave when, uhm, when are visiting hours?" Marinette rambled as she grabbed her purse and slung it over her sounder. The nurse just chuckled.

"Miss, you've been in here since 3am- we do hourly checks, if I wanted you to leave I
would've asked you by now."

"Oh, wow, uh thank you so much." Marinette said as she sat back down, cheeks tinged pink from embarrassment.

"Well, you're not disturbing Mr. Agreste and you are Paris' superhero after all."

Marinette smiled at the nurse and let out a sigh of relief as the nurse walked out, closing the door behind her. When she looked back at Adrien, she was surprised to see him wide awake and giving her a weak, cheeky smile.

"You're awake! I'm s-sorry if I w-woke you." Marinette said as she took his hand.

"You didn't, don't worry Mari." Adrien replied. His voice was husky and sounded weak. When he shifted to get a better grip on Marinette's hand, he grimaced. He wasn't himself and it pained Marinette to see him this way.

Adrien wasn't sure what had happened, but he knew he was safe. The sight of Marinette was comforting, but not enough to calm his pumping heart. His ring was gone and muted horror covered his face. Marinette noticed, and jumped up, pushing her chair over. She ran to her purse, grasping frantically at the ring she had buried deep inside. As Marinette slipped the ring back onto his finger, Plagg and Tikki flew out and pounced on Adrien.

"We're so glad you're okay." Tikki squeaked, nestling into Adrien's cheek.

"Awh you guys actually care?" Adrien teased as he patted the Kwami's backs.

"What!" Plagg pulled away. "Care? Pffft! I don't care, I was just hoping you had some camembert on you."

"I promise we will buy you the best stinky cheese when we get out of here, okay?" Marinette added, taking the Kwami in her hand as a smile grew on Plagg's face.

"Not if Plagg is captured by a civilian." A familiar voice sniggered from the doorway.

"You really should be more careful, they might get spotted." Another voice said.

As the figures walked into Adrien's room, Marinette recognised them as Alya, Nino and... Chloe.

"Nino!" Adrien hoarsely shouted, holding out a fist to his friend.

"Alya!" Marinette yelled, springing out from her chair to give Alya a hug.

"Hello? What about me!" Chloe sulked, arms folded and a pout on her lips.

The four looked at each other and back to Chloe, who was growing more upset by the second.

"Chloe." Plagg groaned as he flew over and hugged her cheek.

"Ew! Get off of me! Stop it, you're ruining my makeup!" She whined, peeling Plagg off her cheek.

Everyone burst out laughing as Chloe flung Plagg away and blushed a deep crimson red. Despite being in pain, Adrien was absolutely, perfectly happy. This was all he wanted for as long as he could remember. It did take him ending up in the hospital for everyone to come together, but he didn't let that thought ruin the moment.
