Chapter 4

3 days

It had  been 3 days since Natasha found out about Ghost. Tony made her swear that she wouldn't tell anyone because it was the last thing the other Avengers need on their mind. To say the least she was very interested in what Ghost had said down in the holding cell.

Bucky, on the other hand, couldn't get what she had said out of his head. 'я именно там, где я хочу быть' It kept on ringing in his head. It began to effect him so much that his friends started to notice his distraught like trance. On the third day Steve had had enough.

"Buck?" He asked tentatively

Bucky whirled around to face him tense, but relaxed when he realised that it was Steve. "Yeah?"

"Whats going on?" Asked Steve

"Nothing?" It came out more like a question than an answer. The look on Steve's face told him that he wasn't getting out of this one.

"It's about what she said. 'I'm exactly where I want to be' What does it mean? Is it a threat? A warning? Bucky gripped his hair in frustration.

"Bucky, stop overthinking things. It probably doesn't help that you haven't spoken to her since then. You were the only person she spoke too." Soothed Steve.

"Yeah then she stopped didn't she." Grumbled Bucky

"If it helps why don't you go down to the holding cell?" Bucky considered this idea for a moment. Why shouldn't he? He nodded and with a determined look in his eye got up and aggressively jabbed at the elevator buttons. Steve sighed. He hoped that She would speak to him.

DING

The elevator doors slid open smoothly. Steve had texted Fury to let him know that Bucky was coming ahead of time. Agent Gomez was assigned in charge of interrogation and had been sending different people in and using different tactics to try to get at least something out of her. But he didn't not even a single word and it deeply frustrated him.

Bucky walked smoothly out of the elevator and was greeted by Agent Gomez. "We have tried everything." he informed Bucky ."She won't respond, she won't even acknowledge someone is in the room, and to top it off she hasn't eaten in 4 days."

"What language have you been speaking to her in?" asked Bucky abruptly

"We- what?" Agent Gomez replied confused.

"What language have you been speaking to her in?" He repeated sounding more annoyed.

"English- what has this got to do with anything?"

"Has she spoken English at any point"

"No.. She has only spoken in Russian" He said uneasily

"So why are you interrogating her in English? Has it occurred to you that she might not be able to speak it?" Bucky questioned.  Although he had said all of that, he knew It was unlikely that Hydra let her on mission without being able to speak English. It was like letting her on a mission without a gun.

The agent lowered his eyes with embarassment.

The guards standing by the doors obediently stepped aside to let him in. Fury had been keen on the idea because Bucky was the only person she spoke too. He had sent his top interrogator on the case,  and 3 days later he had nothing. This made him very annoyed

He could hear the locks clunking through the door. The white lights as harsh as ever. He began to suspect that the lights did more to him then to her. He let out a nervous breath and stepped into the room. The same 6 foot steel walls. She sat unmoving in the enter of her glass cage. Her eyes flicked up to meet his, unlike last time, she didn't hold his gaze. She looked away bored almost dismissive.

Bucky felt his stomach drop . His throat began to unexplainably tighten. The unpleasant feeling coming back stronger than ever, but then he remembered what Agent Gomez had said 

'She won't respond, she won't even acknowledge someone is in the room" Remembering this, it felt like all the weight on his shoulders disappeared, the feeling in his stomach gone. He wasn't quite sure why though.

"что ты имел в виду?" He asked

(What did you mean?)

Her eyes flicked back up to his.

Suddenly feeling a lot more nervous he stumbled over his words,"когда ты сказал я именно там, где я хочу быть"

(When you said you were exactly where you wanted to be)

"именно то, что это значит" she said sounding annoyed

(Exactly what it meant.)

She then turned away - or at least as much as you can turn away when you're strapped to a chair.

The door to the holding cell opened, "uh- Director Fury want's to speak with you" one of the guards nervously said. Bucky walked out of the room. He walked over to the elevator calmly, bu his head was buzzing. Before he knew it, the elevator dinged, and he stepped outside. The glass walls of Fury's office confused him for a second. Why would a director have an office made of glass?

"Mr Barnes" stated Fury

Bucky turned to face him. "You asked to see me" he said stiffly. This reminded him of when he would be called to the principal's office for defending Steve and 'accidentally' breaking someone's nose.

"Over the course of 4 days we have not managed to get a single word out of the captive, yet you managed to have 2 separate conversations with her within the span of 10 seconds of entering the room. " He said using his one good eye to glare at him, like it was his fault that she wouldn't talk to anyone else

 "I have realised that she will only talk to you, so I have some thing to ask of you."
